What Chinese Pens Are You Using Today?

Funny you should ask . . .

Today I received 3 Hero pens from ahai006 on e-bay (great seller, by the way). They're a 736 (thin and shiny), a 5020 (a little thicker, brushed steel), and a 7030 (thicker yet, and glossy black with chrome(?)). Inked all 3 of them (Noodler's Navy, Green Marine, and Bulletproof Black, respectively), and love all 3.

Hi,

Care to share the prices of those pens? I am trying to get some of these models in large numbers. The seller has promised to make a discount, but I would like to know what they go for regularly.

Oh and today I am using 2 Chinese Pens... a new acquisition I found in a local bookstore with no name (will attach a picture or make a review later on)... funny enough, the pen is an excellent writer for the price ($1.25) but has no brand name (unless if Iridium Point Germany counts :P)...

The second one is a Wenda fountain pen (cheap one made to be used by kids for school use)... this one I am not so pleased with (bought it to gift my little sister but after using it I decided against it for fear of putting her off fountain pens for the rest of her life)- the pen is a slow starter, and the ink doesn't come out the write color (it is as if the water in the ink is coming out while the main base of the ink stays in the cartridge or feeder). Furthermore, there seems to be a "drag" when writing as if the pen is "scratching" the paper (think chalk and blackboard)... wasn't expecting much from it, but wasn't expecting it to be this bad...

I am also using an Indian brand fountain pen today, but I suppose that is for another thread ^_^

Using my Jinhao Century pen today with Diamine Saddle Brown in it.

I am going to have to roughen the nib some day. I tweaked it when I got it and over-smoothed the nib. It's like writing on ice at the moment, with no feedback at all - I end up pressing too haRd because it's hard to tell if the nib is even on the paper.

That Guanleming 2001 is interesting. Shame about the nib being a fine, otherwise I'd get one.

Regards,

Richard.

I have a chrome trim Jinhao Century style pen coming. It's a little different in that the cap-barrel thread is cut into the resin of the barrel. Looks good: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180789180292

I sometimes wonder if Jinhao aren't hearing my thoughts - I wanted one with chrome trim so the gold wouldn't wear away, and chrome trim seems more durable. Shame about the clip shield. It does look cheap & nasty.

Now, how about a chrome filigree pen?

Oh, there's one already: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NJ70-JINHAO-STAINLESS-STEEL-NET-TIGER-EMBOSSED-FOUNTAIN-PEN-/160648597949?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25676711bd

Does anyone have one of these? Looks good, but possibly a bit fat for me.

Anyway, I'm back to my rather tatty Leonardo today.

Regards,

Richard.

Currently writing with a silver Lanbitou "Flighter Rocket Pocket". It is a fine (extra fine by our standards) steel nib that writes surprisingly smoothly. It was a steal as well, as I got it for about $12. Here's a picture (Source)

I just ordered one of these in the black, I also ordered a WingSung 239 in green, and a Guanleming Jinrong610. Today I am using a Hero 616. When I got it I leaked so I did the repair that I found on badger and blade. Though the repair worked like a charm I did loose the front washer, so the pen is a little fragile. But it writes nice.

Do not let old pens lay around in a drawer, get them working and give them to a new fountain pen user.

Ahh. You got one too. Mine's not arrived yet - hardly surprising as I only ordered it on 3 April, I suppose.

Today I'm using my Kaigelu 306. Not that I expect to be writing - the main job I'm going to be doing is bricking today. Oh joy.

Richard

Delivery times vary wildly, between ten days and six weeks... thanks to the postal service, rather than the seller.

I prefer the screw-on caps; this one has a full three cap turns on and off. Nice pen, with what I'd call a true medium nib and good flow.

What Chinese pen are you using today?

None, but close. It's a Vietnamese Thièn Long (Celestial Dragon) FT-02, an c/c used in schools to learn Vietnamese calligraphy, with a 0.3 mm italic nib.

Love the writing style! How does it write?

Just got my Baoer 388 in the mail, cleaned up reassembled and inked with PR Fast Dry American Blue. The pen is nicer in person than in the pictures, so far do good. Also today I flushed and put away my Naranja as it was just sitting there with no use.

Jinhao 159 and 7502, received in the mail this afternoon. Arrived in nine days from China, post paid, and both are really quite nice writers. And since my dear wife immediately dropped the 7502 (capped) on the hardwood floor, I can say they seem to be solidly built :)
