What Chinese Pens Are You Using Today?

Latest is a Jinhao 8812. I have big hands, so a bigger pen works for me. Smaller pens feel like toys in my hand and make me feel cramped. This is bigger than the Japanese pens but not ridiculously so, 1.5 ounces on my postal scale versus 0.9 ounces for a Pilot Metropolitan. It writes smooth and is aesthetically pleasing to me with its wood and black motif. I do not know how to upload / attach images alas...

Noted your comment about your "big hands". Have you seen the somewhat larger Jinhao Rosewood #650? Might be even more accommodating than the 8812, which is a nice pen.

I got a Jinhao 992 yesterday which I'm using now. I like its very smooth nib. So I think I'm gonna use this pen for quite a while.

Jinhao 992 - using as an ED. Did not have to do anything to make it an ED. Plug is so snugly fitted, that I could not remove it. Inked with Iroshizuku Kon-Peki. Initially tried water, with no leaking. If I had of been able to remove the plug, I would not try to convert the pen but use the ink converter.

any issues while using as ED so far?

I am very interested to use it as ED and maybe get a big fat stub nib for it...

Yesterday ink started to slightly drip out of the plug end. I emptied out the ink, and put in the converter. I was not able to use it as an ED for long. Thank goodness I have several pens that were designed to be used as EDs! I will say that the nibs on the 992s are a real smooth surprise, and I will be able to use those nibs on other pens when they finally 'give up the ghost'~ -_- Buying a #5 nib replacement can cost anywhere from $9-26. Just think I can buy this pen for $1.79-1.99, and use the #5 nib in another pen.

I am using a Jinhao 888 Dragon Decent in copper because it is the start of the Dragon Lunar Year and my Duke 209 Frosted Black (Matt Black) Gold Trim.

I feel that the Jinhao 888 needs some tweaking as it a hard start and often skips (Maybe a more complete flush is needed)

But the Duke 209 is a dream to use.

The 888 is beautiful! I'm using a Jinhao 750, but I wish it had a finer nib.

I'm using a Wing Sung 698 today for note taking/study.

Also: I ordered a Jinhao x450 a while back to play with transplanting a Zebra G nib into it but I wasn't really feeling it. I showed my mum the pen and she really liked the look of it, so after spilling a bunch of ink all over my hands transplanting blue ink into the converter from a cartridge, I gave it to her. :) (She likes blue/black ink, but I don't believe in "boring" ink so I didn't have any bottles of blue or black handy.) She's been copying down poems with it and loves the heaviness. She couldn't believe how cheap it was.

My latest chinese pen.

Seems to be only one seller for it.

it DOES POST but becomes very heavy and long.

<snip>

That's absolutely stunning! Is the whole thing quite textured? I wonder if the section would get a bit bothersome on the fingers after writing for a while.

Like the looks of that pen. Different! While watching your video, it brought to mind the Retro 51 Dog Paws Pewter Fountain Pen, which I had given thought to purchasing. Is the Acme Deboss textured?

Got a jinhao x750 couple day ago but it skip and dry out often. I like the size and weight of the pen and it's quite nice in flat black.

The worst part of these pen is the stupidly small converter in a quite large size pen but it seems to be common practice of many manufacturer not just chinese.

I have another x750 coming from xfountainpen with a set of nibs, will try to build one good x750 out of two.

One of the things I like best about the 750 is that it will accept the long international cartridges, so I'm not limited by the converter. Currently using Pelikan, in a limited edition color.

Wing Sung 698 Clear with and extra fine nib inked with R&K Dokumentus.

Wing Sung 698 Black with a 1.0mm Pilot Plumix nib inked with R&K Salix.

I love the Pilot Plumix nib with my 698 as well. The 698 is a winner!

I broke down with Wing Sung 698 fever...here with a TWSBI 700R and a TWSBI 580 Turquoise for comparison.
