What Chinese Pens Are You Using Today?

OUCH

I was just thinking, I should NEVER drop this heavy pen with the nib exposed....

The first time, I was able to create a lovely minuscule stub with the nib. I will probably stub one of the new nibs as soon as they arrive. :D

Today I've got a Baoer 100 with Noodler's Red-Black. I just can't get enough of the styling of this pen. I am a bit of a sucker for hooded or otherwise unusual nibs, but come on, this just looks too good. (Well, the cap isn't the best looking part.

Along with that, I've got a Wing Sung 698 with Diamine Velvet Blue. Clear with gold trim and nib. I'm also a bit of a sucker for clear feeds on demonstrators, and the blue and gold looks amazing!

Both pens write very well, but are a bit on the wet side for the paper I have on hand.

I dropped my Delike Alpha and destroyed the nib past fixing this time. :crybaby: Luckily, they sell the nibs on Ebay and I have 2 replacement nibs coming.

So far today, I am using a solid green Jinhao 992 inked with Quink green - my students love the demonstrators. :D

My orange and my black Baoer 517s inked with a pumpkin/midnight mix and midnight (Diamine).

What seller did you find replacement nibs for you Delike Alpha. I have given thought to that pen, however, EF nibs are not to my liking (handwriting too large). Medium is as small as I like a nib. I recently purchased the Wing Sung 698--have ordered a replacement med. italic for it. Trusting it will work.

06595-pyf73dnd is the seller name, but it is the same xf nib. I plan to stub the new one as soon as I get it. :D

Jinhao 992 (grey). Blackstone Barrier Reef Blue. Nib: Nice writer; did not require any tweaking. Writes like a Fine/Med. Style: Reminds me of the LingMo Lorelei, though the Lorelei is just a tad bit heavier and nicer material. As TruthPil noted, it does glide across paper, even my 'cheap' General Notebook paper. Paid $1.54/pen. Like the 992 better than the Jinhao 599 (plastic version). Nice addition with the O-ring; possible ED option. The plastic material does not appear to be the same quality as that found in the Wing Sung 698.

Jinhao 992 & LingMo Lorelei. Cap bands are the same. Clip is slightly differently. The 2 g. weight difference is probably due to the materials used in making the pens. The Lorelei appears to be a better quality pen, which accounts for the cost difference. The Jinhao 992 will make a perfect pen to take to class, give to someone who wants to experiment with a FP or pack in your backpack or purse. It does feel good in my hand, and the nib is surprisingly smooth; hardly noticeable feedback. However, having paid $1.54/pen, if I lose this one I won't feel distressed.

Weight: Cap: LingMo Lorelei - 6 g Jinhao 992 - 6 g.

Body: LingMo Lorelei - 10 g Jinhao 992 - 8 g.

Hero 616, Jinhao X450, Jinhao 599 'demonstrator', it is their version of the Lamy Vista.

There are others in my collection or in the post, but you did specify 'using'.

My new Conklin All-American. Made by Conklin a USA company part of Yafa, but, made in China. This is a beautiful fountain pen. It's got a wide girth which I like a lot, it's handsome, made of quality resin, and wrote smoothly, if a little dry OOTB. But, with a little nib tweaking, I've got it writing just the way I like it. I will also note that I've gained more confidence in my nib tweaking by practicing on several inexpensive Chinese pens first.

This pen is a real beauty and a pleasure to write with. It's a Chinese pen. See the spec sheet which clearly states it's made in China:

Of course there will always be naysayers and skeptics, but when you look at Cross, Parker, Mr. Pen's Italix Pens, and now these Conklins, there should be no doubt that Chinese pens can be worldclass and beautiful.

Picasso Luxor, now that's a pretty one .. which remind me Helen, about your Q regarding my white Hero 6155, I acquire that quite some years ago in a shop in Shanghai, but after checking with them and others recently , its apparent that this model is long out of circulation and out of stock .. got to beckon to question; why did Hero not keep a model that sells, well no idea here ... might be an odd shop somewhere might still got some but who knows ... anyway ...though - since I got a couple more of this ( in my cache ) if you truly want one, PM me off the forum and I can send you one
