What Chinese Pens Are You Using Today?

It's shape looks a lot like that of the Jinhao 992 (I guess they're both an hommage to the Sailor Procolor). I suppose LingMo belongs to Jinhao (?).

Looking at the 992 demo images, I wouldn't be surprised if the cap & barrel construction is identical (& thus cross compatible), clip design & band engraving aside. The section of the Jinhao looks to be made differently though, accomodating a collar for the nib & feed where the Lorelei demo nib & feed are fit right into the section. The nib & feed are made differently as well, both in terms of geometry as well as tipping application, which doesn't make much sense if the Lingmo was just another Jinhao. May as well use rebranded Jinhao components if that was the case.

Have a grey 992 on in the mail to compare to my Lorelei demo, so I may do a comparison write-up in a couple of weeks.

My new Jinhao 750 chess board. This one wrote smoothly right OOTB after an ammonia and water flush.

Will post pics later this evening.

since I went mad and broke my 3 fps, I'm forced to use Luoshi 348 pens. Well for the price they can be said ok, but I didn't like ef nib at all. also i washed those pens entirely but they still have flowing problems(sometimes wet, sometimes dry), I'll have to use them I guess another week till my shipping come.

Thanks for these details. I'm waiting on a 992 myself, but don't have the Lorelei to compare it to (must say Helen's photo certainly makes a nice case for getting one). Please keep us posted!

Took advantage of the Jinhao BOGO special at Goulet over the weekend. Got a 159 and an X750. Now I'm looking to get more X750s :)

I like the looks of your Hero 6155! It that a fine or medium nib? Where did you locate this one?

Helen, I've had this pen for some years , that nib writes a fine Medium, so I say Fine. Had to go back and check where I got it. And yes this pen seems rather popular with ladies and girls alike, at least that's the way every time I ink this up and carry it along to work. One thing the photo might mislead though, the pen actually is a small piece of work, the nib is more like a no.4

Jinhao 159 white with a custom 0.7 oblique I just grounded today. The line variation is nice but so far I don't like the different pen hold required by obliques. I might try to cut it a different angles.

Been in the bed all day with flu symptoms. Was feeling a bit better this evening, and decided to ink up my slimline Duke P3 and make a cup of hot tea & honey. Do not normally use slimline pens for extensive writing, however, this pen is nice for keeping in my pocketbook or pocket for quick notes. Diamine Sherwood Green - one of my favorite green inks.

I purchased that stub nib from what was known as XFountainPens.com. They are now known as Birmingham Pens. This particular 1.1 stub was a #5 Nemosine nib. Current cost: $9.99. This is not the best stub I have used, however, it has served its purposes for this pen. My experience with this nib: requires a very light touch when writing to prevent the tines from splitting, causing railroading. Make sure it is properly seated with the feed--find that spot where you will always have good ink flow. Locating a cost efficient #5 1.1 stub has proven challenging. Fountain Pen Revolution sells what they call a #5 1.0 stub. . It is not a true stub, for the tip is rounded, however, I love how that nib writes. Goulet Pens sells an Edison #5 two-tone 1.1 stub unit for $20.00. Hope this helps. If you are willing to take a shot with the Nemosine, contact Birmingham Pen:

You can do much better price-wise by shopping for those pens on eBay. The X750s can often be had for less than $3 USD/free shipping and the 159 for less than than $4. Of course the China-based eBay vendors will not include the penny-candy that Brian and Rachel pack with their orders.

Baoer 388, a wonderful writer out of the bubble wrap. The ink is Baystate Blue as this is my dedicated pen for this ink.

My Jinhao 992's have arrived, very rapidly from Heijing1314. The 901 is drying from its flush and awaing ink. I am still waiting for the 450 with the broad nib. My next order will be for the hooded nib recommended by Richila.

It is amazing how many good pens are available for such a small amount of money. I do love those pink and purple pens, Helen. They go with my pink and purple inks.

I've always find the Internet's love for the 395 nib a little hilarious and amusing. Seriously the nib is just a standard Hero Model 26 ( sizing ) nib and Hero had quite a number of models using this nib. I suppose the like of several Vlogs and Blogs review kind of made a cult out of it. This nib size is still commonly seen among todays' Hero's range.

Tonight I have been writing with my Purple Jinhao 159 and did my 8th nib ground for it. It is a nice medium italic that could be smoothed out to a little more but is very pleasant to write with.

I'm planning on grinding a 0.9 stub for my 'champagne' 159 that I will ink up with brown ink. If I get the time tomorrow.

Hey, nice pen/ink combo!

-

I got a new Pelikan M400 around noon, so the Chinese Pen List for today is a good deal shorter than usual: Wing Sung 233, for some early morning creative writing, and a Jinhao x450 with a crisp ~1.1 mm Italic nib for some hideously failed Fraktur calligraphy attempts.

I really like the WS 233 - it has that nice 80's look and feel, the nib has a good width - something between F and M - and it gets along pretty well with Pelikan royal blue.
