I just LOVE to see these fabulous pens being sold over and over again and wondering which one will come up next, having had the pleasure of naming some of them and wondering why the hell did you name that when it obviously isn't the pen which was given that name.I was always impressed by the way in which the company used Traditional names for the pens which they started with years ago, such as the Great Wall. Archaic Saint,Dragons Descendant, Confucious, Golden Dragon{Max Walkers] favourite I am sure that these pens will always be the favourite of many of the new collectors because of their affordability. Dont forget their other brand Baoer who turn out some great daily users also.

Not just new collectors! I enjoy them and I am an 'old' collector (if you will). :)

Ian, I could not wait for my pen to be delivered later on this afternoon. I was at the Post Office at 9:05 AM today to pick up my Picasso 915 & J. Herbin 1670 ink. I did stop long enough to flush the nib/feed. I did not fill the pen, but dipped the nib (after vigorously shaking the bottle), and voila! The weight reminds me of the Kaigelu 316. It is a classy looking pen. The engraving on the nib is unique--a dove with a small branch in its' mouth. Eli is going to do a review, but I just thought I would take a couple of snaps. I knew I could trust your recommendation. Thank you!fpn_1478968638__picasso915f.jpg

Still on my Jinhao 611 with my custom mix of Private Reserve's Buttercup and Vampire Red in it. :)

Circled through most of my Jinhao x450's today, inked with Standardgraph burgundy, Pelikan 4001 bl-bk, Pelikan 4001 royal blue and... uh. Standardgraph poppy red, I think?

I love the x450's - the only pen I use more frequently is my vintage Geha, because of the finer nib.

This snap is inspired by Valkyrii's posting on Nov. 11, of all his yellow fountain pens & gold colored Cross pen. Forum: (Don't Just Tell Us About The Pen You're Using *show* Us! - 2016) . His pens are the more costly fountain pens, and they are LOVELY - particularly his yellow Pilot Vanishing Point & Waterman Charleston). However, I love the color yellow - given to long stem yellow roses with white babies breath. His photos inspired me to take a snap of my yellow pens - all from China. I would love to be able to purchase a yellow Pilot Vanishing Point with a broad nib  Until that days come, I have learned to enjoy what I have:

I really like those outdoor shots! The design of the dove with a branch in its beak is interesting. Thanks for fulfilling your promise :)I recently heard of the Atoma paper. It appears to be fountain pen friendly. What has been your experience with Atoma?

A Laban S-C1B-F / Swarovski Crystal. Taiwan counts as... some sort of China, right? I'm never quite sure, because Laban doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the bunch... really nice pen, though. Relegated to desk-bound note-taking duties, unfortunately, because the pen is too nice for university, and the section too impractical for 1.5 hours of hasty scribbling anyway. Looks like a hyper-modern re-imagination of a quill pen while writing, due to the very slim nib and the slightly tapered barrel. I kind of love that.

A Jinhao 8812 Rosewood - lovely pen. Inked it with Standardgraph... uh. The bottle says coffee brown, but I'm 99.5% sure that's actually maize yellow. Standardgraph makes lovely inks, but they're inconsistent in quality and badly labeled. Seem to work really well with Jinhao pens, though.

A Jinhao x450 - the black one with the white scratchy pattern. Inked with Standardgraph violet. Weird ink, but quite lovely. This one is one of my wetter and broader x450's. Took it out of rotation for a while because I found it less visually appealing than the other ones (that ivory white one is lovely, by the way, as is the blue twist), but it really is a bloody good pen.

/EDIT: Also that Picasso 915 is one of the most beautiful modern pens I've ever seen and I need one. Or three. Man, being a broke university student sucks. Maybe next month...

Thanks!

My experience is mostly positive. The "rings'n'cuts" gimmick works really well. The paper has a rather pleasant feedback. Being unbrushed, it's far more absorbent than everybody's "nice" paper like Rhodia. On Atoma, any ink tends to look more saturated. On the other hand, it's not the best media to display shading.

Atoma is nice for fine/medium nibs. My Parson's Essential, a very dry writer, loves this paper. Same with 1.5mm ArtPen. But I don't use Atoma for flex writing. And some inks, combined with wet nibs, show a bit of feathering/showthrough.

Little known outside Belgium and the Netherlands, Atoma is readily available from Cult Pens (no affiliation, just a happy customer), and it's possible to make your own "multibook" using different refills and dividers.

Guardy,

Laban certainly counts. And thanks for that review. I had not noticed it earlier. It is very hard finding reviews of Laban pens. They are of a quality that deserve more notice, though sometimes their aesthetic seems a little odd.

You're welcome ;)

Yes, Laban seems to get surprisingly little attention - probably because people tend to opt for a better-known European or American brand in that price range, which probably seems like a safer bet... and, to be fair, the slightly cheaper Mento and Meno occasionally do pop up around here.

It really is quite a shame, my pen is exceedingly well-made, and really quite pretty, if in a slightly unconventional manner.

I sometimes wonder where they take their design cues from - some of the more detailed silver pens look surprisingly similar to a few silver vintage pens I've seen around the web, but apart from that... *shrugs*

The results are fairly interesting, though. Not everyone's cup of tea, maybe (heck, not even really my cup of tea on some days), but interesting nonetheless, and not necessarily in a bad way.

Today's activities include the writings of the Desert Fathers, and taking notes from their powerful insights. Using the Jinhao Yellow/Black veined Century - #5 M. Nib. Chesterfield Antique Raspberry. Screw cap - always a treat!fpn_1479584998__jinhaoyellowcenturyb.jpg
