Plastic On The Pilot Pen

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I would like to know if there is any weakness to the plastic used on the pilot pens. I have seen the plastic crack on a 823 offer in the FPN classified. The seller (i cannot remember who) mentioned that it crack on the plastic is "usual". So I would like the opinions of more experienced pilot users.

Dunno, haven't heard many horror stories about that happening. Pilot stands behind their pens if anything does happen, but I doubt it would happen.

I have heard the stories as well, but thus far I have not experienced the problem myself on my 4 Custom 743's and 2 Custom 823's. Of course, I could be jinxing myself by saying this.

I encountered this problem with my 823 only because I unscrewed the section and then applied a little too much force in reassembling. I sent it back to Pilot for repair, and now that I've stopped unscrewing the section I've had no problems with the pen. I wouldn't let this stop you from buying an 823. It's one of my favorite pens.

These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value.--Thomas Paine, "The American Crisis", 1776
