Show Us Your Parker 45

Parker 45s (along with my Parker 21s) have been my all-around daily writers for several years now. Inherited a few from my Dad. 45s are very smooth writers and are "wet" writers with good ink flow, I've never had skips when writing with 45s. They are pretty reliable.

Here's one of my 45s.

Guys, show us your 45s.

Well, it's not my 45 yet, I'm waiting for it in the mail. It also came with a free 51 :). Although given my experiences with used 51s, it probably won't be all that great. I do like the idea of the Parker 45 though, I like how it sort of looks like the 51 but you can swap the nibs and it's easier to clean.

I have one of those waiting in the mail. It's a Black CT one. I will post pics if this thread is still alive by then.

What a beautiful collection. I have a few only (5). All fighters, because that is what I like. Can I ask you. Couple of quick questions please!

1. The fighters with a button (or do you call it a tassie) at tha end of the barrel feel heavier and in my case at least seem to be better made than the ones with no button at the end. Even the threads of these feel cheap and grate while closing the barrel. Do you have the same feel?

2. What would / should be the price of all gold with black button end barrel, straight lines pattern? I am asking because I amtaken with that pen but the only one I could find is being sold for about $220 NOS condition. Do you think that to be a good price, a deal or too expensive?

Thanks

Enjoy your pens

Have a nice day

1. There are opinions that early 45's were better then the new, but I'm not so sure. The problem with old Flighters is the plastic end of the barrel. They are delicate and now one can find many of 45's with broken cap-end (same with other metal P45 models). Therefore the later model of Flighter was redesigned.

2. I payed for my gold P45 about 80 USD on eBay, it's in good working condition, but not NOS.

I have three 45s, won't post a pic, they're pretty much the same as have been shown above (I will say that the "Flighter" without the black plastic tassie is much better looking than the one with). Suffice it to say (once more) that the Parker 45 is the most cost effective vintage pen available today. Not as cosmetically sexy looking as the 51 for sure, but writes about as well for a small fraction of the price.

Hi fellow forty-fivers and Parker friends,

I would have posted earlier but I was waiting to be released

from the Manic Asylum after seeing the collections of adamon and baz666.

Gentlemen, I tip my hat to you :notworthy1:

I also agree with nihontochicken and adamon, that the newer flighters,

without the tips are better (and prettier I think).

I have included three pens of the last stage with the black cabochon,

although I do not like their looks much.

To brag a little, am I the only one who has a Signet?

(French, Gold plated, little black tip, gray case upper right corner)

Regards,

Kostas

  • 1 month later...

I waited before posting this thread till the envy and the jealousy wore off and I was back to my (small time collector / user) self again. Guys your collections are marvellous. I have but a few, but what the heck they are mine and not a picture to me.
