It is certainly more Green than Blue, maybe a green-blue. It does depend on the light as well.

TDL and Schadowrider - thank you for sharing photos of your beautiful pens! May I please ask how long did it take for your pens to arrive? Thanks!

fuchsiaprincess - I ordered the pen on August 10, 2011 from CFP (nibs.com) and it arrived at my London home with a customised nib by John Mottishaw on January 5, 2012. A long time, but well worth the wait.

Wow!! That is a long wait indeed….. but you are absolutely right - well worth the wait  Just not sure whether I possess that kind of patience!

I ordered mine in August about a week after TDL did, and I think they got to Classic Pens at the same time in late December (makes sense that they would have worked on them as a batch); was definitely worth the wait!

Agreed -- definitely on the blue/green line, and the light makes a big difference. In natural lighting, I'd say mine is slightly on the blue side of the blue-green line.

I click on this thread every time it shows up in New Content, just to look at those lovely dragons....

Still trying to find time to get a better pic of mine. The dragon artwork is just SOOOO deep in the lacquer! It's like looking at something that is *under* the surface of a clear, yet black water.

I've mentioned elsewhere that I have a zero-sum "policy" on my pens these days: I can only buy a pen with funds raised from selling others. I had to sell a Black Diamond Edson, a Montegrappa Extra & a brand new, just received (and immediately sold) FPN Stipula Etruria Azzurite LE to cover this -- and it was so worth it! And those were pens I really liked. :)

If you were to ask me as of this moment, I'd say I'm "done" -- no more pens; this is the last one. And while I'm really not so foolish as to believe that I will really never buy another pen, I'm actually very happy with my current mix of pens. And sure, there are a number of Nakaya's I would like to have (especially an ascending dragon on a Nakaya desk pen if I ever stumble into a cash windfall!!), but I think I need to just enjoy the pens I have for a while.

I could not agree more on how nice teh pen is. And on the picture side, I will see if I can get any better pictures over the weekend with a real camera and some sunlight, if any makes it this part of Germany.

Beyond that I may have a slightly different problem in that I have a feeling my new Blue Dragon may just have moved into the hands of my better half. She is "testing it out" and so far likes it a lot. My only hope is that the single tone nib colour will save me. :)

My Tame Sukashi "Seiryu" 青龍 Blue Dragon pen from Nakaya is in my hands at last. Order was placed with CFP Nibs.com way back in August. John Mottishaw has created a nice Cursive Italic from a Broad nib for me.

Clearly more of a Blue-Green Dragon, but wonderful nonetheless. :)

Here are a few quick pictures, but taken with a smnartphone rather than a real camera.

The pen is a cigar with the Ruthenium nib. I have included one pricture with a Long Piccolo Black Urushi for size comparison.

My apologies for the picture quality.

Okay -- so I'm having an impossible time getting a picture without glare that also allows the artwork to show through; everything I've taken just absolutely does NOT represent how beautiful this pen is. The one below is the only one that's even close to being in the ballpark, and it's a stretch at that. I'll try some with softer lighting later in the week.

Anyway. I love the unbroken lines of your clipless cigar. But I really wanted a Neo, and they simply would not do it clipless so I went for it with the clip -- and I'm thrilled with how well they placed the Rhodium clip opposite the artwork. And even though I'm having a hard time getting a pic to capture it, the subtly of the dragon is fantastic in "real life", with a nice elegance to it. Lastly, I really like the shape of the Neo -- it's a great complement to my Long Piccolo (and pretty much the same length).

Hope to ink it tomorrow -- haven't decided on a blue ink for it yet!

I hate to repeat what the others have said but.... Damn those pens really make me salivate :puddle: Must strengthen resolve to get Nakaya ;)

Wow! Those blue dragons! I did expect more blue, but I really like the greenish-bluish tones. I would love to see more photos of the Neo Standard.

I have taken a few new pictures of the Blue Dragon with a real camera using a blue and green backgrounds. I have had to compress the file sizes to upload them here. I have included a sample of my handwriting with the Cursive Italic fashioned by John Mottishaw. It is somewhere between a European fine and medium width and was created from a Nakaya broad nib.

I tried TDL's approach of a colored background, and it helped some, but I'm still really struggling to get decent pictures without glare -- the urushi is so shiny, and the artwork so deep under the layers. I expect to be picking up a new DSLR later this month that's supposed to be pretty good with low light situations, so I'll try again then. In the meantime, here are some not-so-good pictures!

Here's a full length pic of the clip side -- IMO, they did a perfect placement job placing it opposite most of the artwork and balancing it "just right" (kind of the baby bear of placement) in relation to what little artwork that does wrap around:

And here's a pic of the pen uncapped (the worse pic of the lot), but it somewhat shows the little embellishment on the section:

So pretty!!! I'm surprised that the artwork is mostly on one side. On my heki-tame Ascending Dragon, there is more wrap-around. I do like that the clip on the Neo Standard doesn't interfere with the artwork.

I keep staring at these photos. I need to get out of this thread. Now I know what my next (eventual) Nakaya will be...

The artwork wraps around a little more on my Cigar, but the Dragon's body is mostly contained in just over one half of the main body, with just a few hints wrapping further around.

But it is really difficult to appreciate the entire impact of teh pen from a picture, never mind the problems of getting anything like a decent photograph in the first place.

There is a little bit of artwork on the clip side that doesn't show well on the clip-side picture, but it's quite minimal, well balanced, and not interfered with by the clip in any way. I can see where more wrap-around on a clipless could work just fine.

1000% agreed!

Stunning! Absolutely stunning pens the both of them. It is this post and nibs.com that has got me so close to actually ordering one of these. I am not looking forward to £200 VAT and Post Office charges but that design is nothing short of awesome. words fail how I love that pen! lol.

I want one and I want one bad! I have only just received my Pilot VP Raden and now I am drooling over the Nakaya. Wow, Wow, Wow.

I still have no regrets over buying the pen, even having to pay the VAT, customs duty and the post office charges. It is my number one pen and travels with me everywhere.

TDL and Shadowrider

Can you share some more pictures of the pens? I am thinking of picking one from John (from CFP) at the SF Pen show next month.

I am curious to see how the Urushi is aging and what feet does the aging impart to the artwork :).
