Hairline Crack In 400 Cap?

I recently acquired this nice tortoise colored 400. It writes great and it's a beautiful pen, but I noticed a small hairline crack in the cap. Is it something I should be concerned about? It seems pretty stable, does not continue into the threads, and the cap fastens securely. So, I think it should be fine, but I thought I'd ask to see if it was anything I should be concerned about. If it's helpful, a picture is attached.

It doesn't look too serious, so I don't think you have anything to concern about. Just use it like you normally would. That's what I did/do.

That was my assumption, but I thought I'd check. Thanks!

I have several well-loved Peli's that have the same cracking in the cap. As far as I can tell, they haven't made any difference in the use of the pen.

I have a drawer full of caps just like that. It is very common and is the result of the celluloid shrinking around the metal cap liner, which, of course, was made to prevent just what it caused.

Sometimes over-engineering is *not* a good thing.
