Your 10 Best Pens

Some fantastic and desirable pens on display; thanks Christof for coming up with this idea.

I always wanted to post to this thread but was afraid that I wasn't up to it. After much fretting I finally made up my mind and put on my glasses of objectivity. Here are the results.

The table below has the details; higher scores are better.

And now the swag.....

Thanks Vik for your post. These are great pens and great pictures as usual. I like your scientific way to categorize and I specially like your J.G.Rider. What a pen!

…and I did a big mistake. There should also be a "51" under my top tens. Ouch!

+1 for Keep 'em coming.

Funny that you said that!

The Parker 51 is so efficient in its function that it tends to avoid being detected on the fabulous scale. Even I missed it on my first round but eventually it displaced a Ric Lei #6 safety.

And yes; the Ryder/Rider is most certainly a permanent fixture in my collection.

I am not sure about "best", but here are some of my more interesting pens.

From Left: Waterman's 0552 Gold-Filled Filigree Overlay over RHR

Waterman's Patrician Emerald Green - nice color, most of these are pretty dark

Waterman's 452 Hand Engraved Vine Sterling Silver Overlay

Waterman's 452 Sterling Silver Filigree Overlay over RHR

Waterman's Patrician Turquoise

Waterman's 94 in Rose Ripple

Waterman's 0574 Gold-Filled Overlay Pansy Panel

Wahl-Eversharp Deco Band in Chased BHR - a fairly rare model

Wahl-Eversharp Coronet with Dubonnet Pyralin Inserts

Wahl-Eversharp Deco Band in Lazulitic Blue

Okay, that's ten. The one on the right is a bonus, since it isn't really a production pen. It is a Parker Duofold Flat-top with a custom cap and barrel made from antique ivory.

Fantastic pens, Procyon!

I'm particularly jealous of the rose-ripple 94.

Best Regards, greg

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

There seems to be a problem with my flickr linked picture currently. Here it is again:

There's a new pen in my collection...and I probably have to switch one of my top10...hard decisions again...
