Kaweco Sport Classic for its smooth nib and small light body.

Baoer 388 again for the great smooth nib and the gorgeousness of the red striped version.

I love my Kaweco Sport. The nib is stunning and it's a great form factor for pocket carry.

Just went through a few things to mod my Ahab BUT it's fabulous when you do! Smooth (even at fine point mode), juicy, pushes the shading, fun to mod, and fun to use. Yea...this is my idea of good fun. $20.

Ok, personal perception is for each person different.

For me a pen up to 20-25 € is cheap (and you can get very good pens for this money)

I doubt you can get a new Lamy 2000 for under 100$ ;)

There is a bulk australian ebay seller that sells lamy 2000's for 100 AUD each which is approx 65 Euros. They come with a warrantee booklet signed by him and there warrantee is looked after by the australian distributer. However they do not come with the lamy cardboard box, just the pen. To his credit he also stocks the oblique 2000's

ok here it is, I know it doesn't seem so cheap, but to me it is;

My previously mentioned Reynolds were £1-something each. What percentage of all fountain pens cost more than $100?

One of my Pilot Preras .... The nib on the other isn't as nice.

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

Mine would definitely have to be Sheaffer Imperial II Deluxe for around $20. Awesome firm nib, beautiful flow and incredibly smooth fine nib.

An all stainless steel Parker Jotter, it writes reasonably well and cost $AU20 (but has great nostalgic value, I used a similar pen throughout my secondary schooling.)

Kevin

Pilot Petit1, $2. Has the same nib as the Pilot Varsity, but fine point. It is both fine, and smooth. In fact, it is the most pleasant writer I have. Which is a little aggravating.

A new one, Baoer 801. It kinda looks like a Parker 88, but with a more open nib.

I got a package deal 6 pens for $20 shipped to my mailbox. So $3.33 each, including the converter. Such a deal.

I got the Medium tip, as I think the Fine tip is too fine for general use, for me.

I flushed the pen, inked it with Waterman blue, and it wrote just fine w/o needing the nib to be tweaked. I'm happy.

It is perfect for use as an "office pen" along with my Baoer 388.

Most of the 6-pack will be used as gifts.

My two most recent, a Platinum Preppy is not the wonder pen I keep hearing about, not a pleasant nib. The Pelikan Culture is nice though.

The Heavy-Weight - Jinhao 159 (Broad), under $10 delivered...wet, buttery goodness.

The Fly-Weight - Hero 616, under $5 delivered... it's brilliant. It lives in my briefcase and never lets me down.

i have an array of chinese pens that are low priced pens ("cheapies", to some) that are great writers: dukes, dancheron, luoshi, baoer, bookworm, etc. great buys, for the money!

here are some.

and some more:

all of these cost less than $10 american, with the exception of the Duke Spider -5th from the left on the bottom photo- that was $15.

I was hoping someone had a wide range of these pens. Which are your favourites of the group?

I think I mentioned Lamy Joy, but having rediscovered a Sheaffer No-Nonsense (black with silver trim) that had been in a box with a bunch of other beater pens (and ballpoints and so on) for several years, I'll have to say Sheaffer No-Nonsense. Along with the Lamy Joy, although the SN-N was cheaper.

Having tried and tested the Pilot 78G on the run, I recommend it as a cheap workhorse. The Petit1 is not very reliable, the ink capacity is bad, no nib choice (fine is not fine enough), hard to clean, flow problems might occur. If you keep it with Pilot ink and use as backup pen or pocket pen, it is ok, but for work I don't trust it, but all my 78Gs passed the test.
