Diamine Bilberry

Great review! I've been using Bilberry for about a year now and I've been very happy with it. Dark enough to be taken seriously in business correspondence but with enough depth of colour to remain aesthetically pleasing.

Hi,

Many thanks for sharing your experience with DBil over an extended period of time.

Have you found any problems with smearing caused by the dry time being too long, or with bleed- show-through on lesser papers?

The only papers I use, Sandy, are G Lalo Verge de France, which is a heavy laid paper or the Rhodia pads. Because the Verge is so heavy the ink dries very quickly so no smudging there. On the Rhodia I don't recall any smearing.

Wouldn't it be great if Nakaya used TWSBI piston fillers instead of Platinum cartridge converters?

looks very close to MB Royal Blue, definitely a nice ink  thanks for the review

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Hi,

It seems to me that Bilberry has more of a Purple aspect, less shading potential, and lower performance on FP-hostile papers than MBRBl.

Sandy, I loved the Bilberry and I'm glad I tried it. I was disappointed that it had no real fade resistance, but I loved how it washes.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Lots of enthousiasm for just an ink here! I like to keep it practical. I just use one ink in one pen. This ink is a nice dark ink with some difficulties. It looks best in a quiet wet pen on ordinary paper. The paper should not be too sophisticated, because then you can get problems with drying time. Good in all situations because it isn't purple. But next to other blues you can see it is more purplish and next to a purple it will look more purple as well, but as you see it alone it looks dark blue with a lot of pigment. I use it in my Italix Captain's Commission with medium stub for everyday use and the small bottle with only 30ml will be enough for half a year normal use. I think this medium stub is a bit overwhelming for some people, they need the same combination with fine cursive stub, or regular fine of medium, but for me it is the ideal combination. I don't need another pen or another ink. I only need a computer for the most of my writing. Simplifying life is hard enough.
