Pen Stand For Work

I have a few fountain pens that I use at work but I just put them in a cup. Now I'm getting some better pens and want to maintain them better. Die anyone know of a good Stand that keeps the nibs up on inked pens?

I have seen some that look like every test tube stand I ever used in highschool that are sold as pen stands. I have also seen "flower frogs" used. Available at your local antique dealer.

YMMV, but I did not keep my pens in a stand or cup at work - reason being that anyone could come along and pick one up and attempt to use it with disastrous results. I kept my pens prone within a drawer in easy reach, but out of sight.

Yeah something like that but was hoping for something wood. I can't see that plastic would be that strong.

I don't know for sure but from the picture that plastic looks like acrylic....much stronger than most wood.

I use the styrofoam inserts from my .308 rifle cartridge boxes.Fits all my pens quite nicely.Well, that is until today,my Ahab showed up and it is one big pen.

Here, a wooden pen stand for 3 pens and 1 ink bottle, available from Levenger for $38. I wouldn't buy the plastic pen stand in the picture above either, since it looks like the pens can get knocked off quite easily by a moving hand

a small pipe stand?

I use old pipe stands. They're wood, look good, and you can generally pick them up used for $10 OR $12.

What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?

I have a Levenger that looks like a bronze dog (or cougar?) holding a leather container for 3 pens. Pipe stand is a cool idea. Nice that cigar holders and pipe holders still live on with the demise of tobacco products. Wooden test tube racks would work.

Does fountain pens have to be straight up when inked or can they be at an angle like this?

I would think that this would still work but i'm unsure.

Here is what i'm going to get(when it is available)

You could try Bill Jackman. He makes beautiful stands. Here are the stands he made for me. There is a link to his photobucket album of stands in that thread as well, and his last known contact information is in the last reply in the thread. I still use my smaller stand at work. It's barely visible in my cubicle pic here, behind the big "jar" holding all the "borrower" pens and highlighters. It actually has a preppy laying across the top that I was working with at the time, as well as my vp laying in front of my calculator. Yeah, desk is a mess, I know...

I also like using frogs (used for floral arrangements). They are made out of glass, heavy enough for a desk and you can find all sizes for all barrel dimensions. They are common enough at antique stores (for a few dollars) which is what I'd recommend since you'll need to check the size of the holes.

This is what I use as a pen stand:

I just bought it yesterday from an outlet shop I stumbled upon while walking along. It fits the Pilot 823, Pelikan 400, etc (all nib up) but I haven't tried it on the big MB 149 yet. Right now its in my room, I could cut up a small square and bring it to the office. Unless I buy this:

Here is what I use. I have not seen them available for some time, but they do pop up on the bay from time to time. They were manufactured by the Bombay Company.

I have two acrylic pipe stands purchased from antique shops. i also have two clear pen frogs (definitely look for frogs that are thick, and have wider holes, unless you use very thin pens).

i don't have one of these at work, and i don't have a photo handy, but Frankoma pottery made these great toothbrush holders that support four brushes. I have four of them at home, and they are great for all of my pens. Also located in an antique shop.
