Montblanc Lavender Purple

Recommended Posts

I've been using MB Lavender Purple for about 8 months and thought it was due another review. I'm not a purple ink type person but I really enjoy this ink when wanting to use an atypical ink in my journal. In my experience, there's not much shading in this ink. It really "pops" on ivory paper.

What a great colour - it reminds me of Diamine Damson, have you ever done a comparison between the two? Thanks for the review.

Unfortunately I don't have a bottle or sample of Diamine Damson.

I appreciate the offer but I hate to inconvenience you. I will get a sample the next time I order from Goulet Pens, which typically is on a monthly basis. Thanks for your kindness!

MB is much brighter than the Diamine, which is a dusty, dark, matte color of purple. I have both, and my MB looks far brighter than the sample above.

Is there any difference between this lavender purple and previous violet ink ? I had the Mont blanc violet ink and liked it very much. So, I don't know if getting this lavender...

Beautiful ink and handwriting!

A couple of comparisons with Lavender Purple (previously Montblanc Violet) at Four Purples with Flexible Nibs.

Thanks! However, my "chicken scratch" is not worthy to be in the same ball park as your writing in the link you provided...stunning! notworthy1.gif

A post over in MB Sepia thread, a swab comparison shows a slight difference between the old and new ink.

Something one would not notice unless one had both inks and was looking for differences.

I now got to go to Ebay and get the old discontinued ink.

I got a bottle of Sepia coming, but missed out on Racing Green.

I have both the old Violet and the new Lavender Purple and I can't tell the difference between them. With the Burgundy Red and Bordeaux I can see a tiny bit of a difference between the new and old versions.

Between prvios violet and new lavender purple is there no difference? Some people say me that new lavender purple is a bit light... What do you think.

Thanks in advance!

As far as I can tell there is no difference in the colour, with the bottles of both inks that I have. I've written with and swabbed both of them. With the swabs, depending on how much ink ends up on the q-tip and then on the paper, there can be a difference. But when writing with both (in the same Pelikan M205 with a cursive italic nib) I can't see a difference. The new one seems to behave pretty much the same as the old one in terms of feathering and so on. It shades the same as well (but this depends on which pen I use). It's probably my all-time favourite ink so I'd be pretty sad if there was a difference that I could see. The picture in this review doesn't look like what my Lavender Purple ink writes like in real life but I think that is due to either the colour of the scan/photo or my laptop screen. Or perhaps the paper used.

Sorry I can't put up a picture of both together as I have cleaned out most pens in prep for going on holiday overseas.
