At the risk of Necroposting .....

DN is still one of my favorite inks. Though, I have to wonder if it would be a bad idea to actually use Mercurochrome in your fountain pen.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Funny, for some reason I seem to recall Mecurochrome being more of a rusty red color than this (I think "Herbin Rouge Hematite", rather than Dragon's Napalm). And I'm pretty sure that what we had when I was little that I'm remembering was the real stuff, because my mother always said "Mecurochrome" (she used to do pharmaceutical research, and worked as a med tech in hospitals before that so she was generally pretty much a "call it by its correct name) when she was using it on stuff like my scraped knees.

Thanks for going what was obviously above and beyond on this one. Did you really also write on your hand (as well as the swab(?]

Next up, Noodler's Turquoise vs. methylene blue? I opened a bottle of the former and was immediately taken by its resemblance to the blue-green stuff I used to treat ick in fish tanks...

There must have been something else in your fish tank medicine. I use methylene blue in the lab and it's really blue (think Bay State), not turquoise.

I've only ever used the stuff formulated for fish tanks, so yes, it's quite likely it had something else added to shift the balance over a little more greenward, and inks in the bottle do tend to look pretty dark, compared to on the page. Possibly some sort of copper, as they tend to say not to use it in tanks that might ever hold invertebrates. It was mostly blue, with a bit of a greenish tinge - turquoise makes me think something lighter, and at that intensity, it's hard to tell. But it's greener than blue ballpoint. I don't have any around at the moment to check, though.

However, if you're up for trying to write with your lab stuff... B)
