Noodler's Inkwell Bottle, Empty

The reason I bought the Twsbi bottles IS because of the Noodlers ink bottles.

So class, does anyone knows what happens when you accidentally tip over a tall thin almost full bottle of either BSB or Noodlers Black...... anyone?........... anyone? ........... The Great Ink apocalypse. Same goes with a broken cap on a PR Plum bottle. Just waiting for disaster (but nothing, nothing can stop the coming zombie apocalypse so we must still horde bottles of our favorite inks).

Nathan has stated, he chose his bottles because they are readily available at good prices and hold the amount of ink he wants to sell to keep his business rolling along.

Nothing says someone else cant make the bottle or the insert he so desires. A properly designed insert would probably significantly reduce the risk of tipping the bottles over.

I knew I'd seen this topic somewhere before.

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/45047-ink-bottle-and-plastic-filling-cavity-insert/

There are actually a number of old threads on this, but I don't think anyone has actyally found a source for the plastic inserts.

It looks like you might want to look at Levenger ink, since their bottles come with just the plastic thing you describe.

Apparently you can but a 6 pack of their ink for $72. Definitely cheaper than the TWSBI.

Then recycle the bottles. I believe a number of people do this with MB ink too. In fact I definitely read a post by someone who buys the MB ink just for the bottle and actually pours the ink down the drain!

I'm sure that was a typo.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

I had read the description of them and was ready to settle on Levenger bottles when I wrote this idea. (I hate the horrible idea of pouring new ink down the sink to use the bottles.) Truly, that looks like the best solution of what is currently available. Or apparently Sailor Jentle Ink has the reservoir, too. They are approximately the same price, so I imagine I'll order whichever has cheaper shipping, better reviews, or a lovely color.

When I do this, I'll buy all the same color and pour it into a larger bottle I have on hand and offer it in Pass It Forward. (It's a practical, immaculate bottle, but no easier to use than the Noodler's bottles.)

And thank you, all of you, for helping me put this out there.

(Dear Mr. Tardiff, hear my plea. See how often this shows up in threads. We are a community who loves you, and who is willing to POUR OUT NEW INK to provide better accommodations for yours. And we each have SO MANY bottles of your Incomparable Inks...)

Oh-- and a plug for the TWSBI bottles. They are gorgeous. A bargain at that price. You should see how beautifully 'Diamond TWSBI" is etched into the bottom of the bottle. I like to just hold one, even-- and so will you. Smooth. Cool. Hefty. Perfect shape. I have blue and green, but those color-names don't really express the sophisticated hues on these bottles... so. I want my TWSBI bottles, plus whatever inexpensive solution is surely developed after the appearance of this thread.

Signing out now with thanks, Sue Ellen.

I just keep different pens around. When the ink gets low enough that my pens with built-in filling systems won't pick it up, I swap that ink to my C/C pens that I can fill with a syringe set. Much easier then purchasing bottles. Also, Goulet Pens sells their ink sample vials, which if you buy a syringe, too, would allow you to get the remaining ink out of the bottle without a high financial impact.

Syringes can be had for about thirty cents a piece at your local feed store/farm supply. They're usually for cats - but if you cut the tip they work for this perfectly.

I laughed through this, because it sounds like a bad, low-budget UHF (for those that remember UHF, before cable) television kids' show, and half expected to see the narrator appear with a red squeaky clown nose at the end.

But it's brilliant, isn't it? :)

  • 1 month later...

I'm sorry to some of you mb fans, but i have 2 of the nice mb cut glass ink bottles; the are handsome; they are designed to have a "well " for the nib to submerge in; they look nice on my desk at work; I bought mine 7 years ago before i discovered Noodlers. I immediately dumped the ink, scraped off the label and filled them with Aurora blue and Waterman florida blue. My mb bottles are now filled with Noodlers , but as with most of you i have more bottles of ink than decent bottles to draw them from. I buy more bottles of ink than i need just to support Noodlers.

I hadn't paid attention to these TWISBI bottles, but after this thread im going to get at least one.

I also would to add my voice to the chorus asking Mr Tardiff to consider making some type of inkwell bottle.
