yes it does, but i don't mind, since i'm assured that it won't unwind all by itself in my pocket (as my M800s and 149s have been known to do).

 

 

Does this pen really and truly require 3 and 2/3's FULL turns to just unscrew the cap?? Why all the unscrewing??

The cap thread is a single start thread. This is, probably, to ensure that the clip always ends up pointing to the 'ONOTO ^THE PEN' logo. If it were a multi start thread, this couldn't be guaranteed. It does have the advantage that the thread is fine enough that it should never come undone in your pocket. Must admit I don't find it irritating to turn it that number of times, as it's pretty much the same as on my Parker Duofold, but as there is a single start thread as opposed to a 3 start, much less of the barrel is threaded.

A work colleague commented about the fact that my Onoto Magna Dickens fountain pen with striped barrel and cap always lined up when the cap was screwed on. They were very impressed with the construction and the look of the pen. Have to admit, the pen looks superb.
