Why is your 530 skipping? Could it be that nib? I bought a handful of heritance nibs and have talked to a nib guy about them before - they are less than average and may need some tweaking to get them working properly. Maybe yours just needs some lovin.

WatchArt,

Of course it's the nib. I had already adjusted the nib to increase the flow that you see in the review. I just noticed the skipping on my signature with the Heritance nib drafting this review. I use a different fountain pen (Signum Nova) for signatures. I need to tinker with the nib a bit more, if I want to fix the skipping. No big deal.

Perhaps the customs clerk filled the customs form for her, or maybe Martin is the fp fan in the family :roflmho:.

I ordered a TWSBI from them and it will arrive in a couple of days. I`ll check the forms to establish (if I`ll be able to) what type of writing tool has been used to fill them.

Parker 51 Vacumatic 0.7 Masuyama stub; TWSBI 540 M; TWSBI 580 1.1; Mabie, Todd and Bard 3200 stub; Waterman 14 Eyedropper F; 2 x Hero 616; several flexible dip nibs

owned for a time: Parker 45 flighter Pendleton stub, Parker 51 aerometric F, Parker 51 Special 0.7 Binder stub, Sheaffer Valiant Snorkel M, Lamy Joy Calligraphy 1.5 mm, Pelikan M200 M, Parker Vacumatic US Azure Blue M, Parker Vacumatic Canada Burgundy F, Waterman 12 Eyedropper, Mabie Todd SF2 flexible F

No, Anna usually signs the customs forms, always using a Pilot gel pen (I think it's a G2). The shiny paper won't take FP ink and, let's be honest here, sometimes a BP is just more practical...

We're both fountain pen fans; we wouldn't do what we do if we weren't. It's true that I own more pens than Anna but she does have some very nice ones herself!

Thank you for your order. Enjoy your pen.

I forgot to check: you live in Romania. Romania is in the EU. No customs form needed!

Indeed. I remember from previous ordersthat there was no handwritten text anywhere.

. Thank you for solving the mistery. :-)

I will enjoy the pen, I'm hoping it will be here tommorow. I can't wait!

Ispriluc,

The evidence of a rollerball or ballpoint user is the impression on the paper. These type of pen users normally would apply heavy pressure on the pen, which leaves an impression on the paper. If you have been using a fountain pen for a long period of time, the nib would be GLIDING across the paper and leaving NO impression. My old boss is a ball pen user and he would stack about ten sheets of a paper together and write heavily on the top sheet leaving a deep impression on the sheet immediately underneath the top sheet. The impression was just an observation on my part and Martin confirmed Anna used a Pilot gel pen, which I believe to be a rollerball pen because the rich dark black ink. All in all, the pen review was a way to tease the sellers of the rollerball pen usage in a playful manner (at least that was my intent) and to share about the writing experience. I am looking forward to the release of the Vac 700, so I can compare it with the Pilot 823. I hope the nib is bigger: like a Pelikan M1000 nib size. You LISTENING Speedy? Wink...wink...nudge...nudge...(blush) lol

My TWSBI arrived a few hours ago. Very nice packaging, smooth right out of the box and a feeling of this-pen-is-very-well-built.

Close inspection of the printed order inside the box revealed they used a Canon printer. :P

  • 3 weeks later...

I have a 530 (post crack edition) and a September ROC. I like them both very much. I personally feel they are the best value on the market. e.g. $20 more than a Safari but three times the pen.

I am not gentle with these and they still look out of the box new.
