Celluloid

FPN member TopParker....Bryan of Worcester Pen Company..... has beautifully-made celluloid pens, which are fantastic value (<£100 with a steel nib).

I am collecting one, with an 'Oxonianed' cursive italic 18K Jowo nib, at the London Show, in 9 days :cloud9:

My celluloid Frankenpen, recently bought from a fellow FPN member. It's my first celluloid and I also love the feel.

I heard lots of concerns and warning about the durability of the material. I made a protective pouch to have it last.

This is my current favourite pen :)

German

German no name...30's.

Boehler Gold mdl 54 Tortoise @1938-40 with an Italian Pluma semi flex nib. When Boehler split from his brother 'Osmia' in 1938 he bought good nibs from Italy and Degussa.

Italian

The Columbus Factory dated it as 1950, unfortunately I don't have a Columbus nib for it. The gold colored Bercontra No. 37 nib is a nice semi-flex.

If I could photograph, one could see copper colored lines running through it and the ink window. One of my top five pretty pens.

Austrian Rusewe 'Sirius' @1955, with a semi-flex bock nib.

Could be 'fake' celluloid in it is wrapped like some of the '30's pens. Nice 14 K Bock semi-flex.

Beautiful pens all over the thread!!!

I got this lot yesterday locally.

Few sacks needed, few nibs to be replaced with originals, but I like them all. Piston fillers in working order after cleaning. I was happy to get that jade green Matador.

Left to right: Luxor Telescop / Matador Turbo 922 / have no idea / have no idea .... unknown, at least to me. The middle, green pen looks familiar, but haven't ID it yet. If anyone recognize any of these let me know please.

It is unfortunate that photos, at least mine, don't do the justice to the beauty of all this pens. That Lapis Lazuli blue structure is as deep as some MB Poe, for example.

Best regards!

Marijan

P.S.

Matador has some generic nib on it, if someone has one, I would be glad to buy or trade.

It's a little bigger in every dimension. Think of it as the girl who went away on holiday and returned to school having gained 10 pounds: the same, just not.

I like them both very much.

Too many pens; too little writing.

My celluloid pens are all from Platinum. I use the blue cellulid as one of my daily writers. The green one will join my collection in a few days.

I really wish someone would do a replica of the Eversharp Doric patterns, especially in Kashmir. That is one beautiful celluloid

this thread is simply outstanding

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but here is my little contribution, the Visconti Divine Proportion LE and Omas Mueller Burl Wood Parogon LE, both using the same celluloid material.http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae33/mchenart/P4261160_zpschaomks4.jpg

And the Stipula Grande Etruria (old style) with Stipula Novecento Rex LE, both using the same, though slightly different looking, Amber celluloid.
