Help Id This Fountain Pen Please

I purchased this pen for $2 at Myrtle Beach's Largest Garage Sale. The only writing anywhere on it is Made in USA on the clip. The j-bar is broken and it has a bit of rust on the nib, lever, and clip but I wonder if it would be worth restoring.

I actually was able to clean the nib, it was just dried ink and not rust, and uncovered the words "Iridium Tipped" and U.S.A on it. It held the ink, Noodler's 5 O'Clock Shadow, and I wrote with it too. The nib is a little stiff and very fine.

It isn't a match because it has threads on the barrel and inside the cap but they don't seem to match up at all. A Frakenpen?

i see! a second take reveals the end of the barrel does match the flat top??!!

i'm glad u got it 2 work! the j-bar is easy 2 get. or just bend the top to a hook-like and re-use it.

I'll have to give it a try. The nib/sac section twists out fairly easy so filling it that way wouldn't be a hardship. It doesn't write all that smooth but for $2 I figured it was worth a shot. :)

IMHO, $2 is always worth it. Jbars can be had from Tryphon Link, I've used them several times. Probably because I like $2 pens, and from the lower tiers it seems that the J-bars usually seem to be shot.

Another trick, stick a broken off pencil eraser on the end of the bar (so the bar sits to one side) and push it up into the pen. A chopstick works great for this. As you can tell, I'm all for the high price tools!

Strange sac job, the sac looks way long for the pen, but I suppose it worked for someone. Also looks like the cap is older. Clip does not look like a Majestic, but I am no expert.

Enjoy your find, what fun! It's the kind of thing I really enjoy, and hope you do too.

Can't beat almost free! Thanks for the tips. The eraser thing sounds like a winner.
