The Deccan Masterpiece In White

Thanks you... Thank you... :bunny01:

Hari, Hari, my dear Hari!

Always in such a Hurry!

Let us for a moment bury,

All our anxieties and fury.

Take the white pen and hold,

Take your time to behold,

The beauty of a pen by Deccan!

Try to make a better one

Only if you can!

I would say then you indeed won.

Take a deep breath and count to ten,

As you run your fingers on the pen,

Just meditate now and then,

Wow! Is this just a pen or heaven!

This finest of Hyderabad's specimen,

A genuine one and not a lemon,

This pen would rival Nizam's pearls;

White pens are those that befit the Earls.

Look at the sheen and look at the shine,

Look at those lovely nib tine,

Buffed nice and shaped fine,

Sad am I that it is not mine!

Your brown ebonite may be a bear,

But just for a moment please bear!

From Rotterdam to Rwanda,

This lovely Deccan is called a Panda!

Now Brahmam sir, can we pls have your poem in the honor of the Panda?

Wah, Wah Ustad! thumbup.gif

Oh! my dear, dear Free-will!

Tell me really, "Will I ever be free?"

Allow me until my body becomes still,

To sacrifice as a still standing tree!

- Just another tumble weed!

My eyes did open open wide

They eyed, they eyed this Deccan pride!

From side to side, and side to side

My tongue was just a moment tied!

So gleaming white with black tipping

This pen is such a lovely thing

It surely made me want to sing

An ode in praise as was fitting.

But think of it, it is a shame

For it to not to have a name

I thought it ought to have a name

To go with well-deserved fame.

So hand upon my thoughtful chin

I thought, I churned so deep within

And up arose the Kairavin

Aha! The Deccan Kairavin

The Kairavin of stately mold

So wonderful to hold, behold

So proud and bold among the fold

The truth be told, will soon be sold

-------------------

I thought I will add my mite. Kairavin means the moon in Samskrit.

The moon is white with some dark spots. (The spots are identified with deer and rabbits in Indian classical poetry). The pen being white with some black, I couldn't help the imagery. Also moon is believed to have been born from the churning of the milky ocean along with nectar, just as butter raises from churned milk.

EDIT- to correct typos

Simply superb is your poem,

Well written and full of rhyme.

May the name be herein Kairavin,

The moon is surely worth lovin'.

A rose is a rose is indeed a rose,

Call it by any name!

It yet holds its dignified pose

And a place as well, of fame!

May your suggestion be let in,

Since you held your dignified chin,

And spent some time to cogitate,

Of a name that would resonate.

Names there might be many,

Some sound deep; a few funny.

Imagination when left loose,

There are thousands to choose!

Wow, I just found this review and I'm overwhelmed. That pen was certainly worth waiting for. The poetry contest is leaving me quite intimidated, I'll stick to prose. I hope that the OP will let the craftsman know what the international responce to his work was.

I hope someone uses a fountain pen to write these poems down! But, arre yaar (no disrespect to the elders at all, could not help) what a pen! I am itching to know the material... I was thinking more Deccan Shukla!

Lord Vishnu is named eight and thousand,

Naming this pen has become our errand!

Like a baby adored with various pet names,

Let us so continue our naming games.

Poem or prose we don't care;

Let me state plain and bare -

Try and think if you may dare,

And find a name for such a pen so rare.

Therefore Penquin, may "Shukla" be it!

This name too surely deems fit!

Along with the Deccon Author review, this one is great! I also picked one of these up in Hyderabad and thought I would add the measurements on this one. Just listed one in the classifieds. I got picked the white one through my Father in-law who is a resident of Secundrabad. It was made as per order and Deccan S'bad outlet delivered the day they promised ie. within a week. It is huge and has a good presence.I got it inked today and it is writing a Fine line well though a bit dry which may improve.

On the cap the ornate "D" has been itched and the nib is dual tone (steel & gold) which matches overall even better with the pen. Section looks nice and very comfortable to hold and write. Overall fit and finish is good and is the costliest Indian made pen I have ever bought. Only issue is the pen is bit on the heavier side even when not posted so may be an issue to write continuously which is not an issue with me.

I ordered the white as I simply loved its looks and the unusual colour combination ie. White and Black.

is yours ED filled or squeeze filler?

It is a squeeze filler and a pretty long one too!

Further the white and Black part material appears to be similar and is very sturdy, might have sourced from the same packing material which Shrujaya is referring to.
