Servicing Piston Of Stipula Etruria

Liviu,

Well done. Did you use silicon grease on the piston rod, the piston tube and the piston knob threads? With all those and the piston greased, it should move smoothly.

I also have small cracks on the clear plastic part that I am going to solvent weld when I have time. I am also going to solvent weld the end of the piston rod where it tore and see if I can have a working pen again. I just need to find the time.

And congratulations on the FPN Etruria's. I am getting similar pens but with silver trim instead of the gold.

I did grease all the threads. I suspect a shrinkage problem of both barrel and knob, because the silver ring slip down easily. I'll probably glue it , because is quite annoying.

About the welding, what sort of solvent are you going to use?

kr,

Liviu

Liviu,

These are the two hobby solvents recommended to me - Tenax or Ambroid. I have yet to get either one and try it but figure it is the best option to repair the parts. My Black Celluloid Etruria has the silver ring slipping down like yours but the piston on that one is smooth. I don't see that would make it not smooth unless the barrel shrunk where the threads are and it is squeezing the piston knob.
