Noodler's Ink: Galileo Manuscript Brown

Hello Signum, et al,

I have never been a big brown buff; however, I am visualizing this ink on my ivory letterhead and I really love what I see. :happyberet:

Pray tell, how is the flow and lubrication?

All the best,

Sean :)

Sean,

The flow and lubrication will be similar to your experience on a Waterman Blue Black. The only ink that cross my mind with a fast flow is Noodler's Operation Overlord Orange. It's like having a runny nose. lol

This ink looks beautiful. I have a feeling it may become a standard for me - thank you for the excellent review. Now if only I could find some to buy!

I always enjoy seeing your calligraphy and reviews. Much appreciated! Just want to note that my several-year-old bottle of Galileo Manuscript Brown gives a much redder color. Either the newer mixes are less red, or itʻs just a matter of batch to batch inconsistency.

Iʻm not sure which hue I like better...

Doug

Doug, you are exactly right. It is darker when a wetter pen is used. This is similar to the effect I got reviewing the Montblanc Collodi ink here. Inks like this are great with flex nibs where you can get wet and drier variations in the stroke.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Where can I buy this ink?

Here on FPN. The FPN Store link seems to not be offering inks at the moment, though. They had a change in persons for handling the ink orders a couple months ago. We used to email fpnadmin@gmail.com to order. Maybe someone there can help you.

Find my homemade ink recipes on my Flickr page here.

Had a minor disaster last night and dropped a bottle of Manuscript Brown on the floor - it broke. Looking at my fingers now, I can atest that my bottle certainly seemed quite a bit redder! And with the action of soap and a scrubbing brush, it is gradually going pink!

Great ink but unobtanium. Noodler's #41 Brown might? be a good substitute.

AFAIK -- i.e. as far as I have been told by other mods here -- this great ink is a good example of an ink "made for FPN" which  comes and goes. Being so sought after, it gets sold out as fast as it is issued, a process only to be repeated later... on demand. (My own very personal warning: be aware that, since this is a Noodler's ink, every new order may result in a new batch which means a new brown.)
