New Diamine Inks

I've used Damson a lot in a medium nib P51 annd a medium Lamy Safari (which to me writes more like a fine) and I haven't had any problems with it. It is perhaps a tad on the dry side compared to say Diamine Twilight, but in truth I only notice this if I've switched from one to the other within a day or so.

The "dry" comment is not what I'd want to hear... I tried Twilight recently in a Lamy Nexx with 1.1i nib and thought Twilight dry, but I may not have had enough ink in the pen, or not been pressing hard enough. The paper in the Paperchase 'Noto' = rebranded CIAK notebook I'm currently using seems questionable, with some pages taking ink much better than others.

Ah, well in that case - it may not be the one for you. Twilight's about perfect for me flow wise, and I do notice a difference switching to the Damson (but I like the colour so much I'm willing to forgive it) so if you find Twilight dry that's not good. And of course, you shouldn't need to be pressing at all, you should just float along on a nice little cushion of ink.

Received the five new inks yesterday. The looked much better than i thought. ...

Since I'm impatiently waiting for my parcel to arrive: what colour does Eclipse exactly have? Among the September inks (I ordered Eclipse and Macassar from the new ones, and a few older ones) , this is the one I'm most curious about.

It's the most difficult to describe. It's a very very dark purpllish blue. It looks black from a fine nib (haven't tried it in a broader nib yet). It's very unique. The swab form mrsgouletpens in this topic is close but to me it seems darker. Very interesting ink.

Quite so :) However, I've only tried fairly extensive writing with Twilight, as opposed to a mere short test, in the one pen. I should try it in others. Both Diamine Green/Black and ASA Blue work fine with the same pen/nib/paper combination, though in all cases I've had "bad patches" on the paper, then good ones again. In particular, I should try it in a Sheaffer Non-Nonsense with Fine Italic nib. Mine seems to give better flow than my Lamy Nexx. If Twilight works well in it, I'd be more confident of Damson.

I'll be interested to hear more about the new inks, though I wish they were all available now!

Denim and Eclipse look better as swabs to me...

:hmm1: Do I really need more ink??

Are you kidding?? Everyone needs more ink! :puddle::P

OK, that makes sense...

I am using Denim since yesterday and it looks very much like Pelikan Blueblack coming out of a real wet vintage Pelikan 400.

I love the ink. It flows much better than Pelikan BB and will go into the non-vintage pens that make dry Pelikan BB look like a pale blueish-greyish mess.

I'd call it an extremely dark purple (darker than many 'black' inks) with interesting shading characteristics that make it look like it's been diluted lots, although it's not especially wet. There's no hint of orange like there is on Diamine's scans of it.

Is that 'orange' that shows up in the stock photos just 'sheen'?

I've tried a bajallion blues and so far, none have been able to dethrone plain old Aurora blue for me... but... wow... those writing samples of both Bilberry and Sargasso Sea are amazing. There just may be a real competitor in these! Aurora... prepare for combat!

It's not even sheen, as far as I can tell. I think it's just a bad scan.

The Apple Glory and Sargasso Sea look great! Is the Sargasso Sea a purply blue like Sapphire?

No, Bilberry is the purply blue. Sargasso Sea is a deep blue kinda blue.

Hi Soki

Can you possibly tell me how close a match Meadow is for PR Avacado on a scale of 1-10? (Not very scientific, I know!) I love Avacado but the slow drying time means I cannot use it for much except letter writing, written VERY slowly. Also, what the dry time is compared to say, an average Diamine colour?

I'd be grateful for your advice, thanks!

Sorry I cannot comment on how close a match Meadow is to Acacado, as I don't have any Avacado to compare. My observation was based on what I remember Avacado to be  Meadow's drying time is slightly longer than the average Diamine ink.

Thank you so much for that.

Thank you for the writing samples!

I just ordered a bottle of Denim along with three others. Now I wish I'd added Sargasso and Eau de Nil to the order. Just when I thought I'd settled my wandering eyes!

Finally I was able to pick up the new six Diamine colors from Rolf Thiel (Missing-Pen) on yesterdays Tilbrug Pen Show.

The below photograph (not color corrected!) shows the new six colors (including the brand new Racing Green) plus two inks (Graphite & Oxblood) I've had for a while already.

Especially the darker, subtle colors look like real winners for my taste.

Cheers
