New Diamine Inks

Hi,

 

I take this opportunity to make gentle readers aware that KCat, our kind Moderator, has taken a serious pledge not to acquire more ink until graduation. LINK

 

While I abhor self-censorship, please be supportive - not to weaken the resolve to 'Just Say No (for now)', by the temptation of wonderful new inks.

I am deeply sympathetic for KCat's aspirations - I could DEFINITELY use the strength to stop buying ink! - but I do think there has to be some safe spaces on this forum to discuss excitement about ink. Right?

 

I mean, how long until KCat graduates??? I can't POSSIBLY be expected to remain unexcited about ink until then!!! If I'm not allowed to be excited by ink, then I'll have to boycott the ink reviews, so I can stay strong about not getting excited about ink. And considering I'm the only person updating the ink review section right now, imagine how messy it will be by the time KCat graduates!!

Tricky business this . . .

 

Perhaps the use of warning labels? e.g. "May cause endless yearning."

 

Or a modicum of restraint when posting? e.g. Use no more than one dancing bunny per post? Or no more than two of these: :wub: And avoid phrases such as "This ink is to die for." or "Better than new shoes."

 

Perhaps most important could be a flood of PMs to support KCat.

 

Other ideas?

Reviving this thread to say that I am TOTALLY PSYCHED about the impending arrival of the new Diamine colours. Particularly Sargasso Sea and GRAPE!!

 

Of all the new Diamine inks released over the last year, Sargasso Sea is the one I've been most anticipating. If this ink is well behaved, it'll be a serious contender for best dark blue ink.

Judging from the various posts here, the first thing I want to say is that Sargasso Sea is a really attractive colour which is generating quite a lot of interest among FPN members. It's a pity that Diamine are leaving it for June 2012 before launching it. Maybe they can change their minds and do it a little sooner?

 

The second and more important thing, and I hope others will join me, is "Hip Hip Hurrah for fuchsiaprincess". She has ungrudgingly accommodated every request thrown at her (except the Penman Sapphire comparison, but that was beyond her control). I vote that henceforth she be referred to as fuchsiaqueen. Thank you very much, FP, you're a star!

Argh, 4th of June already... No new Diamine colors at either the Raleigh Pen Show (June 1 & 2) or on Nordic yet. I don't really want to order a single 80mL + shipping from anywhere else, and know if I do, right when it ships will be when Nordic Pens posts them. Argh.

Well the shipping isn't that bad... the one bottle would be $16.81 shipped. If it was at the show for $17, it's not like I would have let it stay on the table.

The 30ml bottles were up on Diamine's Web site on 31st May. I ordered six, which should have arrived on Sat. 2nd June... but I failed to hear the postman So they were re-delivered today. Diamine had added a box of mixed-colour short International cartridges, too. It was my first order directly from them, as I'd ordered 80ml bottles from TWD before. So, as soon as a pen falls empty, it will be a question of: Eclipse? Denim? Bilberry? Grape? Sargasso Sea? Or Ancient Copper?

fuchsiaprincess, does that imply you're not smitten by turquoise inks in general, or just that you find that Aqua Lagoon doesn't stand out from the crowd?

 

Soft Mint is a lovely colour, but I don't see how it would fit into my world. Looks to give of its best in a broad wet pen.

rjbull : I absolutely love turquoise inks! Please don't get me wrong - Aqua Lagoon is beautiful and very well-behaved. However, it is too close to the turquoise inks I've got in my collection already. As such, I won't be putting it in my "must buy" list

Yikes, just priced an order direct from diamine and they want 10gpb (~$15) to ship to the USA. About 24£ vs 24$ for the 5-pack of 30ml. Shame.

 

Edit: never mind. That's for 6 bottles. 5 is 16£ shipped. Much better.

I am absolutely waiting for Nordic Pens to get restocked in a week. The difference in price is totally worth the wait.
