Sargasso Sea is the one I'm waiting for....puddle.gif

Will be interesting to compare that to "The Blue" whose name does not need to be mentioned since it is unobtainium.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

I was about to order some of their March release inks, but their shipping charges to mainland Europe for a couple of plastic bottles went up from GBP 2.50 to GBP 6. I think I'll wait till June for the next new releases to have more bottles for a shippment.

Me too. I am hoping that it proves to be the, so far, elusive blue I am looking for.

Yeah, I've ordered directly from Diamine in the past, but with the big jump in shipping costs to North America, I'll be buying from Nordic Pen Imports once the freezing temps are gone.

In Ottawa, Ontario? Check out The Ottawa Pen Posse

I finally got my bottles of Diamine. I put the Majestic Blue in my Pelikan M1000 and the Sunset in my MB 149. I like both very much. I think the majestic blue is my new favorite of blue.

You mean the one I sent a sample of to fuschiaprincess? Doesn't look like it, but even so, it's the color I'm most waiting for. Mostly for the MST3K reference, but also b/c it looks like a color I'll like. Dunno if better than the PR DC Mix (Electric and Purple) I'm using, but I sure want to find out.

If I may link directly to her photo from this post:

Has anyone got drying time or smearing info on the Sargasso? I stopped using the Majestic because of those issues.

I don't suppose there is a Sargasso Sea/Majestic Blue comparison I may have missed? :puddle:

Sargasso Sea is deliciously tempting, but I'd like to see how it stacks up agains my current go-to ink.

If you're a Paul Giamati fan then clearly, don't order the Merlot.

Otherwise, unless beaten to it, I'll post a photo as soon as Nordic's package gets here. I have a sample of Syrah and my only 80ml is the related Oxblood.

Does anyone have Merlot yet? I am wondering how it compares to Syrah.

Slightly greyer / less intense. I'd say that Syrah when it's not 'shading' to nearly black is about the same as the shading on Merlot, and Merlot when it's not shading is close to Herbin Larmes de Cassis. If you put them both in a fine nib, it might be hard to tell the difference.

I'm now the proud owner of the 80ml bottles of Bilberry, Apple Glory and Meadow :bunny01:

For me the best BLUE, at the moment is the Noodler's Baystate Blue. But now, there are new "protagonists" in the ink arena...

In the order:

NOODLER'S BAYSTATE BLUE

PILOT ASA GAO

AURORA BLUE

DIAMINE BILBERRY

VISCONTI BLUE (glass bottle)

Test write with a new Stipula Passaporto ebanite grey/black with Medium nib.

This's the same file without image compression lost:

SERGIO BLUE TEST.jpg

Despite the colour "flash" of Blue Baystate, a surprise was the Visconti Blue paid 5 Euro (ca. 6,5 $ tax included) very like the expensive Asa Gao (I looking them directly under the sunshine) and I hope as soon as possible (about June) also to try the new Diamine Sargasso Sea.

To be continued...

Hi,

I have posted quick samples from two of the recently released inks in the ICS&T SubForum.

Just to keep the threads from becoming too entangled, there are separate posts for each ink.

  • Merlot LINK
  • Eau de Nil - with a Poll. (Of all things!) LINK

After a nerve wracking match of 'Rock Paper Scissors', it was determined that Merlot will be the first of those inks to be reviewed by me.

Bye,
