New Diamine Inks

Looks like I'm going to have to order the Sunset, maybe the Soft Mint, too. I was waiting to see a writing sample for the Sunset, since I already have a ton of oranges, but this one looks really nice with shading and darker hue. Diamine has made some fantastic new colors. The Ancient Copper has become my favorite brown now, and the Bilberry is also gorgeous.

Does anyone on this side of the pond sell the 30ml bottles?

And I just now noticed that isellpens (Todd) has some 30 ml bottles, too. What a nice little addition to my order. Oh, dear.

Good new for Canadians - I just talked to Stylus Fine Pens in Edmonton, Alberta stylusfinepens.com and the new colours will be available from their website in about one week. I just ordered the Ancient Copper over the phone and can't wait for this holiday gift to my pen collection.

I just ordered 7-30ml bottles from Nordic Pens....Thanks and curses both to Mauricio for enticing me with those samples and Lloyd for enabling me with a reasonable seller! $30US (tax included, free shipping) ain't too shabby!

Hopefully Sunset, Bilberry, Deep Magenta, Jade Green, Meadow, Soft Mint and Wild Strawberry will make it to my house in time for Christmas! :bunny01:

I have Soft Mint, Bilberry and Deep Magenta - they're great colours. I especially love Deep Magenta! :)

Anyone able to compare Diamine Imperial Blue vs. Bilberry?

I know the bilberry will be darker, but just worried if it will seem almost black on a F nib...

I'll try to do a comparison over the next few days, but until then, here's Bilberry in a Pelikan (F).

It's actually a lot more purple than I expected. Very purple/indigo.

Thank you Simone! :clap1:

Trying to desperately match the colours of my new Jules Verne...and I am some what happy with Diamine Imperial blue, but was wondering if Bilberry is closer :hmm1: that pen is one tough colour to match...

Actually you have to be carefull with Bilberry scans. Most scanners have trouble to reproduce violets and purples reliably, as we can see often on FPN. Bilberry is clearly no blue in real life but a saturated medium-dark purplish colour. It varies with the light source, of course, but is clearly different from purplish blues.

Bilberry isn't the best match, although it is a beautiful ink. Have you tried Diamine Sapphire Blue? I think it's a fairly close match.

I think you convinced me that it indeed is not the right colour for Verne...

I will definitely give the sapphire a try! I had both the imperial blue and the sapphire blue in my hands, but just decided to get the imperial instead...what was I thinking... Always get both! Always!! No compromises :bonk: !

Now that I learned my lesson, I think I should just get all three Billberry, Sargasso Sea, Grape to minimize any chance of remorse/regret :eureka:

Writing samples for two of the new Diamine inks with flexible vintage nibs

[...]

Diamine Soft Mint ... Written with a Waterman Lady Patricia from the 1930s and a superflex nib with medium ink flow.

This is a very light ink color with huge shading capabilities. The flexible nib really brought this light green to almost a teal color.

Mauricio, your handwriting is lovely and the inks look great. But, would you reckon that Soft Mint is going to be too light for whole pages of text, especially if one isn't using a broad or flex nib?

rjbull,

Thanks for your comments. You are correct. If you are not using a broad, flex or any other nib that lays lots of ink on paper, the Soft Mint ink color is going to look a lot lighter, and very much like the lighter areas in my writing sample.

Thanks for the confirmation... that sort of limits the uses of the ink a bit, I think. That is, it's beginning to look more suited to dip-pen calligraphy artwork, rather than FP. Lovely colour if you can lay enough of it down, though.

Has anyone else had problems with Sunset drying in the nib quickly? Three hours after use, even if the pen is capped securely, the nib is too dry to start up AT ALL. It needs water to get it going.

I'm trying to determine whether the problem is the ink or the pen. I'll do some testing in a few days by putting a different ink in the pen, but I thought I'd ask here too. I'm too impatient to wait for an answer! :)

Thank you

they are nice

I wonder what is the point in releasing pastelled watercolour shaded colours that would be difficult to see on white paper, (which is most oft used) unless they be for drawings?
