One question: On my monitor, Ancient Copper looks to be a red/brown. How would you say this compares to Waterman Havana? Just curious.

Ancient Copper is more of an orangey-brown, closer to PR Copper Burst than Havana Brown. Hope the scan helps :

I know you weren't replying to me, but I had been wondering the same thing, the first samples made me think of Waterman Havana Brown, but thanks to this scan I can see they are very different colours. So thanks for the continued updates and comparisons, and by the way, what lovely handwriting you have in this sample!

 

Now that Ancient Copper in now on my 'list', the pain of the wait sets in... :roflmho:

Wish I was, but no, I won't be in Melbourne. The only place to purchase these beautiful inks for a good price (IMO) is directly from Diamine, UK. Their prices are inclusive of VAT, which are removed at the Checkout, which makes the inks quite reasonable, as their international shipping cost is very cheap.

wow, thank you so much for taking the time to do the scan of Havana v. Ancient Copper. I agree with a previous poster, it's clear from the scan that they are two very different colors. Thank you again for this comprehensive overview of the new Diamine inks. It's been really helpful for me.

From the first sight on the list of the new inks Ancient Copper looks nice, but I'm not sure if it is different enough from Oxblood...I don't know if this is because of my eyes, or my screen, or they are just that close...

Any possibility of a comparison?

I haven't got Oxblood, so you will have to make do with Red Dragon. Having said that, the swabs for Oxblood and Syrah looked quite close, so I've added Syrah for comparison too.

I'd love to see a comparison between Sargasso Sea and Penman Sapphire. Anyone?

 

Also, I'm desperate for at least four of those inks. And they all come out in spring and summer of 2012. Grape, Merlot, Sargasso Sea, and Bilberry and the breakaway winners for me.

Finally I was able to pick up the new six Diamine colors from Rolf Thiel (Missing-Pen) on yesterdays Tilbrug Pen Show.

 

The below photograph (not color corrected!) shows the new six colors (including the brand new Racing Green) plus two inks (Graphite & Oxblood) I've had for a while already.

Especially the darker, subtle colors look like real winners for my taste.

Oxblood is a brownish red wheras Syrah is purplish. The colour on your scan is good (at least on my monitor, which supposedly came setup for Adobe RGB as opposed to Standard RGB), I have both Red Dragon and Syrah, and your samples look very much like what I see. To me your ancient copper sample looks to be about half way between Red Dragon and Oxblood, but with far more shading than either of them.

I think you're eyes are fine. I too see a purple tint in eclipse.

My eyes aren't fine, but looking at the ink itself rather than a scan, I see more blue than purple.
