Pelikan Celebry Steel Nib

I was just given four pens, from a widow. Her husband whom I knew slightly, could not have discussed fountain pens, in back then in I had only my old P-75, and not much interest.

One a black and chrome Pelikan Celebry. It is my first Pelikan cartridge pen. (that it has Opel-the car maker large on the side, don't bother me at all.) A '95 or later pen. Not this model but others are still made.

I was surprised :yikes: that the tines spread semi-flex wide. 3 X a light down stroke.

It is not quite what I call semi-flex, in the strength needed to spread the tines is more than what I'm use to with some 30 vintage mostly German semi-flex nibs. It definitely spreads easier than 'regular' flex, but not as easy as I'm use too.

It is an F. How ever I don't know if the nib comes loose, the nib with it's small Dupont similar 'cape' turns easy enough left or right with pressure but is solid for writing, but the the nib don't seem to want to come out.

Is that normal?

I can't tell exactly what size the nib is supposed to be, but as I say think it's a F.

I now understand more what some of the folks are talking about when they say the modern steel Pelikan nib can be some what 'semi-flex'.

I have so few modern pens, I had no spare short international cartridges until I looked in an 'old' '90's Diplomat, where I'd stuck my only one for the day when it's that pens' turn in rotation.

I was also given a 'gold' clipped 14 K Parker Flighter set, FP and MP. I have a steel clipped Fligher set, FP and BP. Gives me a reason to buy some Quink in a Parker cartridge.

I also have an extremely light metal Lamy CP pen that is gray with grid marks like a paper. That too I'm going to have to date, in they show on Lamy only a black one and a platinum plated one. No size marking on the nib. I guess it's a steel B, there is no marking on the nib.

I have Artus and a Lamy Joy and a Lamy Persona but nothing else so I could compare and say that is a Lamy M or Lamy B.

And a real nice three pen leather etui.

I'd say I almost doubled nearly my Cartridge pens. I now have seven.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.
