Can someone kindly tell me the length of the clip on the full-size Muji pen? I need to know if it will work with the pen holder below, but I'm afraid the clip might be too short.

The clip is 3.4cm long.

This is the pen that ignited my fountain pen craze.
Mine came with an extra fine nib, and I love it.
The nib actually has a little flex - it has about as much line variation as my Platinum 3776 soft fine, but is less mushy and more controllable.
I actually prefer it...
Ink is Diamine Grey.

I bought one of these back in the 90s (?) and I got another off ebay last year as a backup. I'm glad you were able to find one--I've not seen them in Muji stores in quite a while; I thought they might have been discontinued. I really like the aluminum finish and the textured section, and the nib on mine was smooth right from the start. Also, the cap fits securely enough that I can leave the pen unused for days and it rarely dries out. My only complaint is that the plating has worn off a bit at the nib end of the section, perhaps from contact with the clasp inside the cap, but that's after a great deal of use. Overall, I agree that it's a fine bargain at the price. In fact, it's turned out to be among my favorite pens (it's inked right now--yes, it can take an international-size converter). Thanks for the excellent review.

they're still on amazon

I was in the Muji store in Boston a couple of weeks ago.

I think I saw the fountain pens in stock there.

I got my Muji off of Amazon in December. Love it--it's really smooth and has played well with every ink i've tried. It's thin, but I tend to like smaller pens.

Just got one off amazon. So far so good. Clearly seems to punch above its weight. I suspect I will get a second for blue ink and just plug in a std intl cart and go.

I bought one at a new Muji Store in Shunyi, Beijing. I have not seen them in stick since. I imagine they send them to new stores, then see if demand justifies keeping them in stock.

How would the Muji pen work as a dedicated Baystate Blue pen? I understand it's a Schmidt "F" nib, which should meet my needs. What I'm most worried about is the pen being too wet. How does it compare to a Pilot Metropolitan "M"? Would I be better off going with a Japanese "F" given Baystate Blue's behavior?

Thanks. I bought one today. Cheaply made, but a decent enough nib. Very similar line width to my Pilot Metropolitan M.

My firm moved its NYC office to Hudson Yards last week, so I visited Muji to pick up a few things. I hadn't intended to buy their fountain pen, but couldn't resist the price. It's a surprisingly smooth writer. While it is a bit too light for every day use, the size of the pen makes it ideal for stashing in a journal or calendar.

I have this pen. I love the design, especially the posting design. I really love the rubbery-silliconey pieces at both ends.

I thought I'd just mention that at the back of the pen, I dented it. This originally meant that the cap didn't fit on, but after jiggling the cap on, the metal piece bent back to a position where the cap would stay perfect posted again. I however still see the place where the damage was, and although it is small, it's there and upsets me. I thought I might mention this as aluminium isn't the hardest of metals.
