Form where u have them espesialy the centurion

ebay

no more centurions on ebay.com

There's what seems to be a centurion here (no affil. with the seller, &c &c).

Maybe but the nib looks non Centurion...too expensive for this model.

Yes, I thought that - but if the nib fits properly, then there shouldn't be any problems. Actually, a gold nib would probably be nicer than the usual stainless steel.

Waterman Expert (I or II) is a great pen. A bit above your budget (around 50€-100€) but if you can, don't hesitate.

Are Hemi's great workhorses?

I have a Hemisphere with a fine nib and I quite like it; it was my everyday pen for a few years (before I got my Lamy 2000). If you like the Allure, then the size of the Hemi should suit you. If I were to buy it again, I would get a medium nib, however.

is there a waterman phileas made out of metal?

There is metal inside the barrel, which means you can't use it as an eyedropper.

i think i go to buy a Waterman Master... are there many of them?

They're discontinued, so you won't be able to get one new. I'm not sure how common they are. They look very thin. Does anyone know whether they can actually take international sized cartridges or converters? hmm1.gif

I bought a Kultur a while ago just to see what it was like. Although I didn't expect much for such a cheap pen, I was disappointed; because it's made entirely of plastic, it feels quite insubstantial (too light) when writing, and also doesn't give me the impression that it'll have any longevity if used as an everyday pen.

I'll concur with Force and say that you should buy a Phileas. They're heavier and feel like a much better quality pen than the Kultur, which, for all intents and purposes, I would treat almost as being a disposable FP.

The only real difference between the Kultur and the Phileas is that they put a brass sleeve inside the barrel of the Phileas to give it some weight. :)

Hi!

Just had to say, as a proud owner of four Waterman Kulturs, and other inexpensive fountain pens, I find the Kulturs to be really smooth-writing, COMFORTABLE, good-looking pens.

I have absolutely no regrets in owning them, and use them everyday... they're very nice pens for the money! I have some really cheap pens (Hero, Riviere, Soyuz) and believe me, the Kulturs are not in that category!

They don't feel cheap at all. The plastic is sturdy. It's a nice mid-size chunkier pen, compared to skinny thin ones and doesn't tire your hand out holding it.

Yeah, some of them have hard-start problems, but a drop of white glue inside the air hole in the cap takes care of that instantly.

Try it, you'll like it!

Here's an old 2007 link on it, with photos and discussion. https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/33386-waterman-kultur/

Well, as it'd make things easier, I'd love to agree with you. But I'm afraid that, as a proud owner of a range of pens (from inexpensive to what I suppose could be called relatively expensive) I find that the Kultur does feel pretty cheap, even compared to other pens within its price range, for example (I've been holding my tongue and I've tried not to mention it, but now I feel pushed) the Lamy Safari, which is just so superior :)

Also, Force, you're right, it seems like our conversation has come full circle wallbash.gifgaah.gif
