I have the gun metal with silver trim, and I too love it. I have also noticed the upstroke issue, but it's not a game breaker for me. What ink are you using in it? My Heart of Darkness lasts quite a while, depending on the paper.

The pen is mightier than the sword. The tip of a pen can start or end wars, move resources, and change the lives of billions. Swords blush at the pen's death count.

I have a few Matte Black Vanishing Point fountain pens in extra fine, fine and medium. The Matte Black is my favorite VP.
