Don't give my OH any ideas LOL. Maybe I can't find it because I'm in the UK

Hi,

If you decide to use a surfacant for B&W film, the UK-based Ilford has 'Ilfotol' amongst their offerings. http://www.ilfordphoto.com/products/product.asp?n=44

As for the surfeit of surfacant, it can certainly be used for other purposes, such as cleaning one's sunnies or anything that benefits from a spot-free appearance after being cleaned with water.

Hmmm... this thread has reminded me that I have a bottle of surfactant that I was using to make things like bubble bath a number of years ago. Would it work for lubricating inks? Actually, I have four different surfactants... Amphosol CG, Bioterge AS-40, Bioterge 804, and BSB (just checked my inventory). If they would work, I'd be more than happy to share; I have almost two gallons of the AS-40, half a gallon of the Amphosol and almost a gallon of the BSB.

I may be the originator of the dish soap trick: I wrote about it on the newsgroup (I think) about 14 years ago and on Pentrace shortly thereafter. The key is: use a tiny bit, like by dipping the tip of a toothpick in the soap and later immersing it in the ink. Too much soap and you will get feathering....

Ok, I just happened to have cleaned out a pen that was having flow/dry out issues and refilled it this morning with Diamine Chocolate Brown and then dipped a pin into Bioterge AS-40, then into the converter filled with ink. Once the ink was flowing, I did a comparison test. On the left, after the October 28/14 date is what I wrote with the same pen and the same ink. To the right is what I wrote this morning, again, with the same pen and the same ink but this time with the Bioterge in it. It's definitely made a visible difference.

Did you mean "and later immersing it in the ink"?
