Beautiful photo Tom!

I think destroying habitat happens everywhere, some places more than others, also insects are disappearing very quickly everywhere.

~ Hi, Per!

Thank you very much.

The bird was very actively eating in the quince bush.

I had never observed one before, nor have I seen one since.

True, habitat destruction is a global problem.

The severity of the problem here is difficult to describe.

My profession is field ecology, which has a special interest in habitat and speciation.

I'm grateful to come across small patches of relatively thriving vegetation.

One appreciates every trace of nature, especially given its increasing scarcity.

Tom

A typical old danish church, built around 1150.

~ farmdogfan:

I like well-maintained older churches.

They have a quiet grace from generations worshipping within.

Thank you for the exceptionally clear and luminous images.

Your camera work honors those families and individuals who have called that church their own.

Thank you Tom.

Those old churches are generally well-maintained, also the graveyards are well-kept.

I´m not much of a churchgoer myself, but i like the feeling of stepping into such an ancient building, there is a special feeling to it.

regards Per.

I've been working at this school for 12 years. Outside the high school doors is a crab apple tree that flowers every spring. Every time I wish I had my camera. Then I either forget, a thunderstorm or hail destroy the blossoms, or we get a freeze that destroys it. So, this year, I had the camera at school for another project.

I photographed one day in the cloudy weather. A threat of severe thunderstorms did not materialize, so I photographed it again the next day.

Here is the high school entrance on the cloudy day:

A look toward the middle school. Yes, we're K-12 in a single building.

And, finally, a try with macro photography. Not the best: something I need to practice.

Penrivers, this looks a little like IR but not quite. Did you do it with a deep orange or red filter on B&W film or digital? Or did you achieve the effect in PhotoShop or similar program?

In any case, it's beautiful work! Thanks for sharing, as always.
