Can't find my post where I also make the comment we were sent to a less trafficked area, Sonoran Desert?:(

I like your composition overall. More practice with the exposure. What digital photography program do you have?

The stone table with the incense...try getting rid (cropping out) the floor and concentrate more on the table and the incense. Don't put the incense smack in the middle of your picture (regla de tercios)

The picture with the purple umbrella...try getting rid of the washed-out sky.

Your comment was in the other thread, #839.

Thanks for the critiques-I'm working on it. I've been using Digital Photo Professional, the program that came with my camera, but I've also just started experimenting with Photoshop Lightroom 3, trying to decide which I like better. Any other ones I ought to look at? (While we're at it, any advice on an entry-level macro for Canon?)

I know the stone table picture needed work, but I can't find a crop I like. I was trying to include the ground because I thought the stone, brick and green was interesting, but I think I'm giving up on that one for now. The other one... here's another try:

Not meaning to turn this into photo school... (maybe that would be a good thread).

I miss them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm serious.

Oh wow! I haven't checked this thread in a while -- and look at all these stunning photos! Wow! So great!

I just ordered a Canon SX40, Sonia -- yeah, a point-and-shoot -- but I have plans for it. I gotta get back into my photo groove. This thread helps! Seriously, wow!

This was a school project for my graphic design class - make a logo for your own ficticious company using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Thanks, Kristi! Not quite back (am looking again, though -- wow!). A camera (another P&S, Sanon SX40) is on its way, and I'm eager to learn it and shoot stuff and post here. Another road trip calls, too... it's been too long.

...A camera (another P&S, Sanon SX40) is on its way...

Y'know, I've commented for years that, "The camera in your hands when you need to take a photo is infinitely better than another one with neat techno-tricks that's not there !"

I can't always bring my kit with me on business trips, but "even with a P&S", it's possible to gather some moments in an image. Here's one shot with a Canon SD780 from an early morning transiting through O'Hare on my way home from work in Virginia. I did straighten the image along with a slight crop, otherwise, that's how I saw it.

The reddish cast on the sweatered foreground figure's face is due to another stained-glass hanging to camera right, but off-frame. I decided, even though a friend had mentioned "correcting" the colour-balance on the skin, to leave it as is.

I have another comment that I've made for a lot of years relating to my photography, "Always shoot."
