Cool! Kudos for using real B&W stuff then :)

I usually do a similar thing, I use Fuji B&W negative film, that I then scan and process using adobe lightroom. The good shots then go to the local photo printing shop (where they are print in color paper). I have access to a real darkroom here, that I could use for printing my own stuff almost free of charge (just the paper), but I don't have enough free time for it at the moment... I know it's a pity... but I can't make the day last longer...

In the meantime, before I develop the Christmas photos, here is a view from the Tagus river in Lisbon (obviously shot with a digital camera)

Very nice, Coppilcus! I think that Mérida is my favorite city in Mexico, though I haven't been in many years. My favorite memories are of the central plaza at night, filled with friendly people, a band playing... I hope it's still like that!

Reality always outclass fiction... still it is a place to behold any time of day or night; Mérida is a beautiful city indeed, I´ll retire there someday...

In México, my staggering and battered México, of course caution is advised, but mainly at travelling at night on highways: :bawl: .

More of the península:

Izamal, Yucatán.

Stunning shot! I like the way it is set... It might be have been worth using an orange filter (real or virtual) to increase the contrast a bit... but it is rather nice as it is!

Hi Coppilcus. As I see it, your Izamal photo has a violet hue so maybe you have it in color mode,if you have photoshop you should try minor cosmetic touches like seting it in grey mode (total Black and

White) from there to levels then to contrast (in brigthnes and contrast),then shadows and highlights

an last but not least maybe 40 or 50 in unsharp mask. I used to print in bw with my epson stylus r1800 but it has a blueish hue, I know now that the good one for BW is the epson stylus r 2400.

You are right, our batered México, I used to go to Monterrey by bus or my pick up truck to buy books in the Gandhi or the Fondo de cultura económica but not anymore.Greetings.

I used a red filter... but I do not know how the image look "finished", it´s a digital scann from a black & white 35mm film positive print, but on color paper to reduce cost, and then print the best of them in b&w paper... time has passed and I have not made any b&w print.

I've never been in Mexico but I understand your pain. Puerto Rico has become a drug-state and many aspects of living have become deplorable. What is really saddening is that "developement impaired" countries are the drug suppliers for the first countries. Mexico is such a rich country with so many resources other than drugsand drug trafficking industry...

Beautiful photos from Mérida.

sometimes nature makes wonderful things. this is a pic of the snow accumulation on the roof of my house, taken from the window. i softened the edges and added a bit of contrast to better show the curves and different layers of snow.

Marrying three of my hobbies in one photograph: yo-yos, fountain pens, and photography. The Bokeh is not as defined as I would like, but that's the only draw back of using the Canon EF 50mm f1.4 wide open.
