I like to take photos on my way to work - it sets my day up with something positive and makes me appreciate the fact that I am fortunate to live in a place that I love and that I am am able, in the face of so much economic stress, to be able to be going to work at all.

This photograph was taken on a very dark day - but it makes me appreciate that even in darkness there is beauty.

I can appreciate the photo and the sentiment of gratitude for potential beauty in the daily routine. Some of my favourite photos have been taken while waiting for buses at bus stops and looking around and seeing something beautiful.

What a thoughtful gift for your daughter. That will be one to cherish.

There is this haunting look in this photo...please, not of horror films with bloody zombies and body parts flying all over...but of good'ol films like "The Birds" and "The Shining".

Excellent photo.

This one is a natural subject in a somewhat un-natural location. (mother in law's house)

There are two foxes on the top of the hedge about 10 feet up in the air.

Love the idea of creating a cookbook of favorite family recipes to pass down to children. I think I will start a similar project. Thanks for the idea.

Penrivers, good to see you again! Thanks to all the others that have been contributing. Love the fox pics! I have seen them in my area, but rarely. Would love to catch some (on camera).

My sons and I went running around yesterday while my wife supervised some painting at the house. We wound up at the Plantation Agriculture Museum in Scott, Arkansas. I found it to be very interesting. My sons seemed to enjoy it, though the older told me later that he "feigned interest for [my] sake". A few of the pictures I took:

Finally got to play a little with my new camera. I did only the most basic shooting, as I've barely read the manual. Here's one of the brass dragon on our woodstove.
