I really like the fabric photos and the architectural details. Foxtail your photos of Turkey are stunning. It is a wonder that column is standing with its cracks and crumbles.

Kathleen, almost all of the columns and statuary are from archeological digs, and most are reconstructed. They put the pieces back together like 3D jigsaw puzzles.

Less than 5% of the archeological sites in Turkey have been excavated. Can you imagine the treasures left to be found!

Been admiring photos taken on your trip to England, Scotland and Ireland for the past few days. Following it with a lot of interest. I travelled throughout Scotland some thirty years ago. Brings back fond memories.

Fernan, I am pleased you are enjoying my photos. It really was a dream come true trip for me and I am so glad I was able to capture my favorite sights in photos so that I might gaze on them again and again, refreshing the images in my mind, in some way experiencing the trip a second time.

Sunnerd, WOW !! is the adjective that first comes to mind when I view your photos. Thanks for sharing. Your shots are beautiful!

Loved the cottages, Kathleen. I've never lived in one but somehow they bring me feelings of warmth, coziness (even if they may be small).

Oh wow.

Thanks, Sonia!

I spent the afternoon at SFMOMA today, took pictures of other people's art, recharging my batteries. I'm also easing back into drawing -- way easing.... heh.

I do love this thread, though. Fantastic photos, people! Rock on!

I know I had posted this one at Kathleen's Natural World thread, but having a new editing program ONLY for Black and White, I wanted to re-post this one, a favorite of mine.

I love this subforum and especially this thread. Your pictures serve as inspiration.

This summer I visited my parents. I hope you like these.

Ruins of a leper colony at Isla de Cabras, Puerto Rico:

Porta Coeli, Portal for Heaven, one of the oldest churches in the Americas, in San German Puerto Rico. Many used to climb up the steps on their knees for penance.

Central Coloso, one of the last sugar mills to operate in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. It is now abandoned and was where my uncles took their trucks filled with cane.

Love those shots, Pedro! I lived in PR (Caguas) for a year as a child, and I would love to go back.

I particularly like the sugar plantation shot. When I was there, I believe there were still mills operating.

Puerto Rico!!!!!!!! crybaby.gif Miss it badly sometimes...sometimes not rolleyes.gif.

Caramba, thanks for the pictures and yes, Porta Coeli is the oldest church in the Americas.

Way then I used to go to the "centrales" to take pictures of the abandoned sugar mills -a bleak and sad moment in our history regarding labor conditions. Beautiful photo from El Coloso.

My Daddy was from Caguas -del valle del Turabo, like he always said.

I have a bunch of pictures from Puerto Rico that I have to dig out of my computer...stay tuned...happyberet.gif

Our house was in Rio Cañas, on the northern side of Caguas. We didn't go to school in the barrio, though. We drove into Rio Piedras every day to a school that doesn't exist any more, called the Island School. I'd love to visit the island again as an adult.
