Man, is this ever a thing of beauty :-) So, so nice.

 

It just makes me jealous though! That ponoko service is just pure, unadelterated awesome. The only thing for me is that I just wouldn't know how to begin making the designs, because I have ZERO knowledge of CAD (Except for a few measly hours with step-by-step idiot's-guide instructions in archaeology undergrad). So even though I have several ideas for things I would like to make involving industrial design, and a very clear idea in my head of the final product, there's nothing I can do unless I find someone with the industrial design skills to help me out!

 

But yours is just gorgeous. I love that you were selective in how much you added, you didn't overdo it on either the functional or the decorative aspects. It's just perfect!

Well I've not really got anything new to add, but well done anyway! Not only is it simple, but it's timeless too in a way. Not too vintage, not too modern. And although there'd be a guaranteed ebay (or similar) business for you if you wanted to go into production (imagine how you could expand your line over time!), I really do admire creative people who set that aside and make their ideas available for free to all. Top notch ideas! Have you ever thought of designing an entire home stationary/writing desk?!?!
