A superb job, and with the right pens and ink.

Sweet design. A tidy package of form and function. Thank you for sharing the plan for others to try as well. :clap1:

That's neat looking. I just have one question/thought though. I find that unless I keep my pens vertical (preferably with nib down) it takes forever for the pen to start writing properly again. I don't write with my fountain pens a lot (mainly because I find I don't use pens that much) so I don't know if that has something to do with it. Do you a) not find that to be the case and B) think that it would be better for being able to write immediately?

Wow - very, very nice!

Cool design, from concept to finished item.

- And I really like your "mortise and tenon" design of the piece.

I also agree with a Poster, above: Keep the design simple.

The ink bottle adds visual and physical weight to the piece that keeps it well-balanced.

Congrats on the success - and FPN Popularity - of your design!

Really nice? Any thoughts about commercializing it and selling it in the market place? I would buy it just to have pre-cut MDF pieces which are ready for assembly...

No dear. I don't care what they said about it on FPN. You are not getting a laser cutter. :roflmho: :ltcapd:

+1

There will be no crisis this week. My calendar is already full.

I love this.

If I were to change one thing, it's be the shelf that holds the ink in place. Quink is good, but so is Noodler's and Iroshizuku. Do you have any plans for modifying the stand for other inks?

If one held the Iroshi I'd order at least two today. Work and home.

That really caught my eye. Love the shape, the shading contrasts on the joins, I like it! I hadn't heard of that neat service either. I really should read the paraphernalia posts more often!

I find that unless I keep my pens vertical (preferably with nib down) it takes forever for the pen to start writing properly again.

I generally have not had that problem. Before making this stand I just kept my pens lying on the desk, and they always started first time. They are mostly pens with hooded nibs though, so that might have something to do with it, and at work at least I am writing many times a day. But I have a Lamy Al Star that has been lying beside my keyboard for a while and I bet it will start with no problem ... yes, it did.

I have had a problem with a Zebra V-301 which only starts reluctantly after a few days inactivity, but that seems to be more of a design problem because it also tends to get starved for ink after half a page or so. In fact, they seem to have been withdrawn from sale (I have not seen them in stores for a few months and the Zebra online store does not list them) so perhaps they are tweaking the design.

Thanks for sharing this. I love it when high tech. meets low tech. and ends up as art and function.

How can you tell when you're out of invisible ink?

Excellent. You should start a side business to make and sell these. The excellent workmanship & quality cannot be found in anything commercially mass produced.

Having made a sword stand for my Akido dojo some years ago. I made a model version as a present for a member who left and presented it with a pen and pencil set. This week I made another.

I hope This link works as I have not tried to link to an older post before. I too made a Sword stand, but did not think to add an ink holder. The CAD/CAM machines may have another job to do at school next term if you do not mind an adaptation of your design.

This might work?
