Just saw this thread. What a fantastic idea, Pendleton  I'm in, but I fear the competition is going to be strong :bunny01: :bunny01:

Regards,

Soki

If you are in it will be strong Soki. thumbup.gif But hey, let all be fearless and just have fun with it.

I'm in, but I have no chance against the likes of Mauricio and some others here. Is there a sub-amateur category?

Oh, yes ... Mauricio's writing is beautiful!!

OK, no chance of winning; I'm no calligrapher, but someone's got to be the first, so maybe I'll get half a mark for that!

Can I have another go later - if I practise a bit more?

PS Lamy Joy, Herbin 1670 and Aurora black inks.

Here's my attempt. I apologise in advance for the less than stellar photography. Evidently, those energy efficient lightbulbs aren't much good for photography.

Written using a Waterman Carene stub loaded with Visconti blue (naturally).

I have neither the equipment to give great results, nor the hand worthy of it. But here's my scrawl on the first clear page of my journal using the Spirit of Life IB nib and PR Spearmint ink.

A noob question regarding the 2nd and 3rd prize. When you say it will be a custom stub on one of the winner's nibs, what type of nib is required? I've read that you can't really do much with a fine nib, so does it have to be at least a medium? Also, can the nib be steel, if not gold? Thanks!

Loving the entries so far! Droolworthy. I've started with mine. Soon as I get my exams out of the way (perhaps sooner) I'll be posting it on here. Pretty chuffed about my design element, but still debating the layout and hand.

+1 for judged contest. I tend to like those better. :)

Actually, fine nibs take on a very lovely elegant quality with a Pendleton Point. The line variation is not as extreme, but a sweet line takes place. I do a lot of "F" nibs. I did a an extreme XXF last night. I call it a Pendleton Point Stiletto. So don't hold back. ;)

My calligraphy skills are a bit weak, but that won't stop me from trying! Looking forward to seeing everyone else's submissions. :)

My first entry... :bunny01:

Pilot Varsity with italicized nib and Diamine Steel Blue. Paper is Clairefontaine dotted.

(I'm not much good at uploading images, so I'm sorry if the image is too big.)
