My New 146 (Old Stock)

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a new 146 (late 80's or early 90's model) and was never inked. i can see some differences below from my other newer model MB144 pen:

1. feed looks porous, is this an ebonite feed?

2. it is stamped 'W.-Germany' on clip

3. some inconsistency on the gold plating

I am still very happy with the purchase, looks like 149 is next in line :)

Yes, the later "split" ebonite feed. Used until the first plastic feeds appeared in 1990 or so...The 146 was reissued starting in about 1974, that generation of pens had the solid ebonite feeds, clear blue/gray inkview and single tone gold nibs. They transitioned then in the 80's to split ebonite feeds like yours, striped inkviews, and dual toned nibs, and I believe in that order.

Congrats!

it does not have a striped ink window, i would assume this is an 80's model and split ebonite feed, thanks for the info.

i got it at $225, the price range is about the same in ebay.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get this from? I would love to own a NOS 146.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
