The Perfect Gold Ink

Ian Foster

Recommended Posts

I have a mostly used bottle of Shaeffer Skrip King's Gold ink. It seems this is no longer available, at least not in the UK. I have tried various other inks, in an attempt to find a replacement. But nothing matches, nor comes near.

Would forum members share their thoughts on their favourite gold or deep yellow ink? I am not looking forward to the day when the Schaeffer King's Gold has finally gone.

Dear Vickie,

Many thanks for the PM, which I received OK. I have sent you a reply, assuming that I am using the forum reply system correctly.

I love Sheaffer's King's Gold too. There's always dip pen & metallic gold ink.

There was a real gold fountain pen ink marketed at the Chicago Pen Show a few years ago. Anybody remember?

I remember some 24K nano-particled real gold fountain pen ink that was wildly expensive. I really wanted some. :cloud9:

It has been a while since I used King's Gold, but the new Akkerman Hopjesbruin seems very close to my recollection.

I just put a very quick review of Hopjesbruin in the Ink Review section.

The closest I get to gold is Noodler's Golden Brown. Caran D'Ache Grand Canyon comes close, but is more expensive than gold.

What do you think about this color? Is it golden?

I don't know, that sure looks more like orange though.
