The Pelikan M405-M Nib

Around 4 days ago, Wideguy, a good friend and a well wisher from Israel asked me if I might be interested in a new black M405 that he had. His preference is wet flowing MB149s and other MB WEs, he was not able to handle the small M405 and he wanted me to have it. Needless to say, I gladly agreed to accept the gift. I have a very flexible choice, I enjoy pens of all sizes, same with nibs except for the oblique points.

The pen was sent through UPS day before yesterday, we were tracking it as it travelled through Turkey-Germany-UAE and finally arrived in Mumbai last night, it was delivered to me today morning. UPS did an excellent job of the expedited delivery.

I had only one M400 series pen, which is the M450. This pen is a welcome addition, the white-black trim is elegant.

Some pictures of this little elegant pen:

Wideguy mentioned that the pen was a slightly dry writer, easily fixed, the slit was too tight at the tip, now it is sufficiently opened to allow for a superb flow, the tip needed minor balancing.

Some pictures with my other presently inked Pelikan, the M101N with B nib.

A writing sample:

The pen is quite well balanced when posted, difficult to use when unposted, I find that I grip the M405 at the ink view window, this is not readily apparent with the stresseman striped models. Nice pocket friendly size, understated pen and a champion writer. Thanks Wideguy!

Cheers!

Hari

Nice pen and a great gift. I find that I often tend to gravitate towards my 400 and old style 600 as a go to pen.

Ohh....the pen is just mouthwatering. Such a good pen, for such a small amount of money! (well, considering the quality).

Wonderful review!
