My Rotring 600 Mech Pencils

Recommended Posts

I had the one in the middle, lasted about 2 years. The rotring 600 FP on the other hand, is still up and running for over 10 years. Rotring used to make wonderful stuff.

Rotring 600 is just to narrow of a grip for me.

It is like holding on to a wood pencil.

Not good for a person with big hands.

You can get one of those gel soft grip ballpoint pens, slip the grippy covering off the section, then slip on over the 600... for the mechanical pencil or ballpoint. Obviously it won't work on the capped pens.

Hi! If I may sum this up abit simplified, there is the original 600, with knurled grip, sometimes called "vintage 600" or "classic 600". There are some sub-versions of this. Then there is the 600 Newton. And nowadays there is the modern 600, which is modeled after the original 600, again with knurled grip. Allow me this question: is the modern 600 inferior in any aspect to the original one? In build quality, look&feel, or anything? If not, what sense does it make then to spend 100$ on a vintage one, if the modern one is the same?
