"cool" Pens (Bp And Fp)

Surf Monkey

Recommended Posts

Okay, I'm not sure if this has been done before because I'm new here, but let's give it a try anyway!

Post some pictures of "cool" ballpoints and fountain pens. There's no real criteria here beyond what you think is cool, so it's kind of a free for all. Here's a couple to get the ball rolling:

The Parker Urban - I love the retro-space age look of the pen. It's like a Saturn 5 or (if it were black) an SR71 Blackbird. So sleek. It also sort of reminds me of Brancusi's "Bird in Space" sculpture. The signature Parker arrow blends right in with the point-ward motion of the pen, giving it identity without disrupting the visual flow.

The Namiki Vanishing Point/Pilot Capless - I think it's an amazingly gutsy move to take what's essentially a ballpoint design, flip it 180 degrees and equip it with a fountain mechanism. The result is really a love/hate design. I fall on the love side. I own this color VP and I absolutely adore it. Even if you're on the "hate" side of the coin, you have to respect the level of though that went into the Vanishing Point. It reminds me of a '60s muscle car with smooth but aggressive lines. The clicker is like the exhaust pipe.

Let's see your picks!

EDIT: I posted this to reviews, but it was meant to be in the general section. If a mod could move the thread, that would be great. Thanks!

I own.

The USUS pens from Germany, with a streamlined, torpedo shape and techy, Apple-like colors. The two halves are held together by magnets. ACME also has many ballpoints with eye catching graphics, including many designed by Karim Rashid.

These are great! Some are a tad novelty to my taste, but still fun to check out.

Rick Propas' (PENguin) Pelikan 100 Demonstrators. Awesome little thing.

I have one so I hope he won't mind me posting a pic from his site.

Rusewe..Austrian second tier but nice, @1955 the first is a tiny pen. I put these in because they are both a set. And Yes, the 1950's ball points...with all the little problems I'd forgotten from back in the day of the start of ball points.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

Too bad that David Oscarson JDM isn't a Cross. The irony of the sword clip would be rich indeed.

I have a Uni Clipturn EV 3in1 : Two BP (black and red) and pencil if you rotate the barrel. There's a small clip for lanyard and a rotatable clip for every 45 degree stop, you can clip it whichever way you fancy. I don't use BP much, but I reckon it's a pretty cool.

I see you do retip and ink the samourai. That is really cool. I write the large version samourai but just look at the president version samourai. Can't yet make a decision to ink although mine is the original M.

Hi Bryant

Thank you for reply. Don't you worry about the red ribbons to be damaged? I almost ink my pens, but it is hard to decide to write with. I put the samourai in a soft Nakaya kimono when carrying it. What is the nib size of yours and how do you protect and carry the huge president version samourai ?
