Danitrio Densho Flow Woes

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I have just acquired a Densho with issues,

The nib is scratchy - looks like one tine is longer than the other so a grind & smooth are in order.

Skips all over the place.

The feed/breather don’t seem to work too well - I keep getting ink starvation after a sentence - a quick flick of the wrist with the densho get it going for one more sentence.

I have flushed the barrel and section/feed, dried it all and blasted with an air duster but no change.

With so many different issues it looks like a lemon - I would prefer to fix this myself with any suggestions....

thanks in advance..

Should the feed be ebonite? were some Denshos produced with plastic feeds?

This is a photo of the feed from my Densho - it looks like plastic - you can see the split mould line and sprue mark...

I am sure Winedoc will exchange it for you. He is great in that regard.

Winedoc will set you up, just pm him. Sometimes the feeds on the Danis are not perfect.

I agree with Ron and Sonia, winedoc will take care of you. I had a similar problem when I bought my densho earlier this year. Kevin gave me a couple of suggestions to try on my own (switiching to aurora ink, vigorous flushing) and when they didn't solve the problem, he had me send the pen back to him. I would recommend sending it USPS priority, since I didn't do that, and the pen took a couple of weeks to get to him (both he and I were nervous about it...I just didn't think to send priority with delivery confirmation...that is, I didn't think about it until I was faced with the possibility of losing the most expensive pen I own :o )

However, all worked out in the end, and now the Densho is the pen that has set the standard.

Good luck. Trust me, if you need to send it back, the returned product will be worth the wait.

Send it back to winedoc. I also had trouble and tried several suggestions he offered first. I ended uyp trying several nibs at the DC Pen Show and now I have one that is perfect. Kevin knows what to look for so I reco sending it to him. He will make it right. It's worth it so hang in there.

Hi all, thanks for the feedback - having removed the nib and feed - cleaned both, cleaned the barrel and section - reassembeld - no change.

Looks like the feed is at fault, the air just isnt getting through it and a wrist flick is a temp' fix.

I'll contact Winedoc, just a wee bit frustrating as I was excitied about using this pen after the glowing reviews, waiting for it to arrive etc.....now I gotta wait month/months for it.... :(

Oh well - dust off the P51 :)

Hi Jay,

Just notice this post, so sorry for the late reply.

When first the Densho prototype came out, it had the plastic feed as the pen was fitted with regular nibs. That worked well. Then Danitrio decided to fit it with flexy nib, which the plastic feed did not support. I found the problem and notified them quickly about this and all plastic feeds that were having problems were quickly exchanged. I am sure yours is one that was not changed and still has the old feed. The ebonite feed will require a different nib holder, so please feel free to send me the section with nib/feed and I'll change it for you. I'll also take a look at the nib for you. thanks

That gorgeous "51" doesn't look like such a hardship to me. ;) I've never used a Densho but it should be worth the wait.

Excellent stuff! I've so busy recently I have not had too much time to sort things and contact you, thanks for your response and i'll send the section with nib & feed to you promptly.

Thank you Kevin.

I'm looking forward to the densho being my main user and I love the smell it leaves on my hands!
