OK if I got back to Japan and subsequently Ito-ya I think I know the next pen to get... it still up in the air what will I consider priorities but I'll sit down and check what's going to be the pen for me either a SF or a FA or a PO if the FA and SF look the same the I'll go with FA or PO this will probably be not an EDC pen that I would wish to carry but I'll still whip it out time to time

20K yen is still by far a good price if your going to compare with Pelikan pens but hey...

but either the Pen first or Otaku goods it still up in the air on how much budget I'll get in lee-way for a trip to Japan

Just to answer the sizing questions above, the 912 is a close relative of the 742; the section is identical, and the main dimensions of nib, cap and barrel are all the same too. the remaining differences are purely cosmetic - silver/chrome finished, flattened ends to cap and barrel, and a sleeker clip. I prefer the looks, actually, but the most important thing is that the FA nib is still rather special. Here's a review of mine: http://scribbledemonboddo.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/pilot-heritage-912-fa-nib-2015.html

I got a 912 with aC (COSU) nib earlier this year from J-Subculture.

It is well balance and just a joy to write. The nib is nice and give a wide fat line. It writes out of the box. I like the flt top, and it looks very nice!

This has got to be the best pen around at current prices. Big call I know but you get a large-medium sized pen, with large ink capacity (both cc and self filling types will love this), 14K #6 gold nibs in a multitude of shapes and sizes and Pilot quality.

I have the SU nib and am seriously thinking about getting another in SFM.

I am kinda stuck between 3 pens.

This, custom 823 and Custom 845.

Custom 823 because of the piston filler thing, this because it has the posting nib which I like and custom 845 because of the lacquer and the wonderful nib.

But I have already ordered a Nakayaso I think I can skip the lacquer, what do you guys say?

I don't know which pen choose: Falcon SF or Heritage 912 with FA nib?

What are the main differences between these nibs and pen?

I have a 912 soft medium, very dry in my light hand but very smooth and brush-like. It is art, not an everyday writer for me.

Any ink in it always starts soft and dry and pastel, the lightest value, and can go very wet and quite broad and assertive and saturated. But it always only gravitates back to its soft nature when pressure is not exerted. Always controlled and controllable wetness and line width.

And I do not intend to brass shim or widen the tines for wetness. I enjoy it this way :)

Love them. Have three currently with various nibs (Soft Medium, BB with homegrown stub grind and another BB Italic by Mr. Masuyama).

Today however JetPens sent this teaser in their weekly email (I think I spy a Waverly nib on the left :D )

What are the main differences between these nibs and pen?

FA is much softer, Falcon SF nib looks more majestic, FA is a tiny bit finer, the Falcon SF respects a shallower writing angle because of the curvature of the end of the nib, and the FA has much more shading with the ink .

I found that the FA has much more in common with normal Pilot SF than it does with the Falcon SF.

I have a 912 Custom with the Waverly nib! Wonderful writer. Hard to go wrong with a Pilot.
