What Converter For A Parker 25?

This might have been easier if the search function wasn't fussy about terms with fewer than 3 characters, but at any rate...

A friend of mine was about to throw out an old Parker 25, and instead gave me a call to see if I wanted it. Says it may need some "TLC," which could mean anything I suppose. One thing I'm fairly certain of is that the original converter is long gone. Aside from the originals, are there any widely available modern converters I can use in this pen? And are there any references for converter/pen compatibility that will keep me from posting silly questions like this in future?

Thanks much.

It takes normal Parker converters, slide ones, screwable piston type ......Parker 25's are really good pens, bombproof, with nice performing nibs. Hardly mentioned yet excellent value. Probably a good soaking is all it needs. Congratulations.

Hi

The 25 should take the modern Parker converter - it was my school pen and I remember it using the standard Parker cartridge (which haven't changed as far as I can tell).

Compatibility information for modern pens can be found here.

Having said that - there's no harm in asking questions - I still ask many questions that may be considered 'silly' but until you know the answer no question is silly (and at least you posted in the correct forum).

Thanks, folks. Exactly the information I was looking for. Interesting about the Lamy converter, too. Now I'll just keep my fingers crossed that all the pen needs is a long bath.

Bathing and flushing will probably do.

The nib section consists of three pieces, the shell and the nib-and-feed assembly which is fricton fit. Once removed (pulled out), the nib can be removed from the feed, if necessary for futher cleaning.
