Sailor Jentle Blue Black

Anyway, I tried many blue and blue-black inks to find Sailor Blue-Black. Nice to see that so many others have also discovered it.

D'oh! I meant "are enjoying it." I suppose the difference in connotation is tiny. Still... "are enjoying it" is what I wanted to say.

Oh, that does look nice, AND it performs well on bad paper?? Dear lord, I already have enough blue-blacks. With that sweet bottle, I'll have to look into this Sailor ink.

Dear Carpedavid,

Further to my above post I have not yet figured out the Reservoir mechanism (funnel system you are referring)in the bottle I have. I cannot find anything like that in the bottle I have apart from the plastic cap being double lined. Can you through some more light on this aspect.

It's a translucent plastic sheath that starts at the mouth of thebottle and extends to the bottom. It's not immediately obvious if your bottle is still full-ish. I knew of it and still had to look closely when I opened the bottle for the first time. Here's an image of the box and bottle from Jet Pens that shows the illustrated instructions on the side. Unfortunately, my bottle is still quite full, so I can't get a picture of it without draining some of the ink.

The bottle I have do not have that plastic reservoir and the carton carrying the bottle do not have those drawings either. However the shape of the bottle is the same. Probably this is a different version.

Thanks

Dear Carpedavid,

Thanks for your review and calligraphy. great stuff and very informative.

I am planning to use the Sailor blue-black (when it arrives in the mail), and am curious if I have the same darkness (closer to black) as your sample.....to be continued....

I have the new Sailor squarish bottle, as they no longer sell the face-cream jar since last year....

Cheers from Amsterdam

Ryan

With that said, I have Sailor Jentle Blue Black, and it is a very dark ink. The level of darkness is, as always, dependent on both the amount of ink your pen puts outs, on paper used for evaluation, and on whether your pen doesn't have great sealing and so dries out slightly to increase ink concentration. This ink ranges from medium matte tealy-navy to very dark off-black with a hint of navy and copper sheen. I actually prefer the lighter version, and I'm still looking for the right pen (a dry writer) to get that lighter result, as it goes very dark in the pens I've used it with so far.
